FYI - Hotel Derek (located at 610 and Westheimer in the Galleria area) used to be the Red Lion hotel in case anyone doesn't recognize the name... haven't been there myself.

Haha! What a coincidence! I went there for my first time for a wedding reception last Sat. and it was really nice. I would have to agree that it's very funky and for a 'hip' crowd. There is a bar called Javier and Ling (not sure about the Ling) just outside that is very nice and full of trendy people. Besides that, I didn't hear anything negative and it looked very nice.
