Cheap (er) Parking in NYC

It seems now is the time to get decent rates on rooms at NYC at all levels of hotels. what has not changed much is the rediculous parking rates charged by those hotels.
Does anyone know of any lots that charge a more normal rate of say, less than $25/day?
Particularly in the mid-town area? Thanks.

Yes! My husband and I found a garage that charges $15/day (including taxes) for a 24 hr. period! We were thrilled because we had to get our car off the street while attending an out of town funeral.

It's near West End Ave and 63rd St. - I'll check tomorrow and post the exact address. Maybe not the most convenient location for you but definitely worth the savings - even if you take a cab to and from the garage.

The entrance to the parking lot that charges $15 for 24 hour parking is at 60th Street. The $15 does not include taxes which are probably close to $2. They provide a shuttle bus to get to the midtown area east of the lot.

There is an indoor garage that I use every it is in a more every time I park in the midtown area. It's $2 more than the one rqf mentions and lacks a shuttle but it is in a more convenient location. It's Cherry Parking on West 40th Street about 100 feet in from 9th Avenue going towards 8th (just across from the back corner of the PA terminal south building). It's $19 per 24 hours for secured indoor parking and I've had good luck there - always a pleasant staff and it's open all night.

Here's the scoop:

The indoor garage is under the West End Towers and is on the dead-end of 62nd Street to the WEST of West End Ave. They charge $6.13 plus tax for each 12 hours (making the total 24 hr. charge less than $15) and are open 24 hrs. a day. There is a cross-town bus (M57) that stops right at the corner. It's a great find....
