The Belvedere in New York - on 48th, I think? We stayed there last February and were very pleased. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were comfortable. It's only a short walk to Broadway and Duffy Square. We never felt unsafe, but I had my husband with me. We tried to get reservations for this fall, but they were already booked. Have a great trip.

Hi Tracy:
Enjoy your Visit to NYC. The crime rate has been on a steady decline but just remember to use your common sense and street smarts while you are here. If it too good to be true it is...that kind of thing. The best thing is that your hotel is right in the heart of it all...Though I do not know how long you are staying but be sure to get a subway and Manhattan bus map and MetroCard upon your arrival. Enjoy yourself!

We stayed at the Belvedere about 2 years ago -- I think right after they renovated their rooms. It was a convenient and safe location, a short walk from Times Square but on a quiet block. The room was not fancy, but similar to a typical chain hotel room, and unexpectedly had a kitchenette at no additional charge.

Hi Tracy,
They could be the same old rehashed photos you've already seen, but there's some information here:
http://www.express-res.com/belv.htm
You may want to look at the other hotels they rate 2 "apples" to see what else is available.

Also, www.quickbook.com has information on the Belvedere, with some different photos. It's a nice site, and people have the ability to submit remarks after their hotel stay, but it looks like nobody has submitted any about the Belvedere yet.
