Hotel and Restuarant Recommendation in Key West
We recently changed our 10th wedding anniversary from Jamaica to Key West (much less expensive and somewhere new) I've been looking around for places to stay, but there are just so many to chose from.
What we are looking for is quite, adult's only or adult oriented, on or very close to Duval Street. We want to be able to walk to restaurants, bars and shopping. An included breakfast woud be great. Something cute with a really nice pool. I like the look of Duval House. Any info on this hotel? Any other recommendations?
Also, what would be a good restuarant for our anniversary? I was thinking open air, maybe on the beach, candels or tiki torches.

Your description of the dinner made me think immediately of L'Attitudes on Sunset Key. You take a short, 7 minute boat ride to the island and can specify dining on the beach. Shuttle leaves from the Westin Docks on the Whitehead side of Duval. Downside is you might drop $200.00 for dinner there.
Duval House is at 815 Duval Street, approx 1/2 of the way from each end, so you could walk to virtually everything to do in Key West.
How are you getting to Key West?

We really love the Marquesa. It's a charming hotel with a nice restaurant on site, beautiful pool area, and has good service. It was very close to walk to Duval from there, but still a quiet pretty property.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at Simonton Court Inn in a poolside room. Any info regarding that hotel?
I like the sound of L'Attitudes, but pricey any second alternatives.
We are using miles on Continental. We fly MAF to Houston to Ft. Lauderdale to Key West. Leave at 5am and end at 12:15pm. Not too bad for 2 connections.

I leave Newark NJ on a 6:30 a.m. flight and if there are no delays I'm in Key West by about 12:30. One stop and it's like having an extra day on the island.
I'm not a big up-scale eater but people like the Commodor at the Key West Bight. IIRC ther is one outside table upstairs over-looking the habor and you might be able to snag it with a reservation.
I like the Rooftop Cafe on Front Street or the Banana Cafe on Duval. Both have very good, reasonable food, and 2nd floor, outdoors dining.

anniversary dinner recommendations... Louie's Backyard (just as expensive as l'Attitudes) would fit your atmosphere requirements (but waterfront instead of actual beach). Other possibilities for great food would be Cafe Marquesa, Seven Fish (won't fit your requirement for atmosphere, but the food is amazing), A&B Lobster House, Nine One Five, Mangoes... My personal recommendation, though, for the total KW atmosphere and incredible food would be Blue Heaven -- outdoors, casual, but the chef usually does amazing things on the dinner menu. I don't think they take reservations.

Just back from KW this past weekend. Stayed at Casa Marina (can't really recommend it tho). Ate at Blue Heaven (excellent for breakfast); Schooners Wharf Bar (excellent fish sandwich & live music). Had dinner at Nine One Five & it was "ok"--not really anything special.
Please, please, please go have dessert at "Better Than Sex", its located on Petronia--& not far from intersection of Duval...not far from Blue Heaven. It is dessert & drinks only; super romantic, dark, candlelit. Overpriced but what a special treat! I had a drink called Kelly's Klimax--sort of a sparkling wine in a white chocolate coated glass--yum! Husband had a glass of Cab in a dark chocolate coated glass-also yum. We shared a dessert of flourless choc cake with raspberry sorbet---delicious, but I can't remember the name! This place is pretty new & getting more popular--we had to wait about 15 mins for a table on a Fri nite--it really added to our trip to KW though!

We have stayed at Simonton Court a number of times, most recently this past May. We love it there and it sounds like just the kind of place you are looking for. It is right off Duval St. but when at the hotel feels like you are miles away.
And I second Better than Sex for dessert. The drinks are great, but one dessert to share if more than plenty.

Thanks for all the responses. We have booked the Simonton Court Inn MH2 which is a poolside room. I have hired a photographer to take some pictures for our anniversary at Fort Zachary Beach, so I think the closest resturant would be Louie's Back Yard. Though I've read on several web-sites so many bad reviews regarding customer service. Will probably give it a try though. Do we need to make a reservation?
The Better than Sex dessert place sounds great. Have added to my list. I plan on going to L'latitues also, but on a different night.
