Hotel and Restaurant suggestions for Staunton VA
Fodor’s travel guide lists 1 hotel recommendation: Stonewall Jackson Hotel. Plus, two restaurants and one is permanently closed. Figuring it must be an older review because there is no mention of Zynodoa, with their highly acclaimed farm to table chef from the Little Inn of Washington.
Wondering if Fodor’s “Forumites,” have hotel and restaurant travel recommendations for Staunton?
Also, we have theater tickets for the Shakespeare Theater Company’s Pride and Prejudice in March, but wondering if there are any other recommendations for a weekend travel itinerary.

The Stonewall Jackson is now now Hotel 24 South, steps away from the Shakespeare theater. We have stayed there twice, appreciating the adjacent covered parking, warm welcome, comfortable lobby and location that allowed us to walk to restaurants. Rooms are comfortable and are not cookie cutter style. Phone and discuss your preferences when you reserve.
Our first time there we enjoyed dining at Aioli. In October of this year, we followed the advice of Tom Sietsema of the Washington Post and chose The Shack—

Granted, not everyone is game to spend that kind of money on a chef’s prix fixe menu. We were very happy we opted to try it!
Note that the chef owner plans to move this concept to another location. This one will transform to a much more casual menu.
