Hotel advice needed

I arrive in San Fransisco at about 4 pm and I am travelling up the coast to Portland.

I would like help with a hotel, about 2 hours from the airport, over the Golden Gate bridge and going north.

My second night is in Mendicino.

Thanks

I would go with the Inn above the Tide in Sausalito, make sure you get a corner room with a sea view.

carol2791: what is your budget?

(Tovarich: Sorry, but Eureka makes no sense what-so-ever. The OP asked for something w/i 2 hours of SFO and south of Mendocino . . . . )

I do not have a budget, maybe $400 tops.

I have tried most places in Olema without success.

Thanks for your help again.

Maybe the Inn at the Tides http://www.innatthetides.com/index.asp (not the Inn Above the Tides andrew mentions. This one's in Bodega Bay)

You could stay at the Farmhouse Inn in Forestville and have dinner on site in their fabulous restaurant (reservation absolutely required). The next morning, head out River Road to the coast, and enjoy the drive to Mendocino with a stop at Sea Ranch Lodge for lunch and a great view of the ocean. This is a bit further than two hours, but may well be worth the extra driving time.

I second the Inn Above Tides in Sausalito. The view from the decks can't be beat.

You could also get to Healdsburg very easily in 2 hrs from SFO....except if its a Friday night. I"d suggest Hotel Healdsburg or Madrona Manor...both with good restaurants, and the town itself is charming.

"I have tried most places in Olema without success."

About 20 minutes from Olema is Nick's Cove.

When are you doing this and is it a Friday or Saturday night? If so, a nice place on the coast for one night will be hard to find.

Also, if you are doing this in summer, you may want to stay somewhere inland.
