We are going to FL for a week on Longboat Key. My husband has a medical condition that can require emergency transport to the nearest hospital. What is the nearest hospital to Longboat Key and is it considered a good hospital? If there is more than one - -what would be your choice for ER care?

Sarasota Memorial Hospital is a very good hospital.
It is not far from LBK, especially now that traffic has slowed a little after season.

You're picking a great area for someone with a medical condition. Longboat Key is right between TWO great hospitals 9 to the south there's Sarasota Memorial and to the north there's Blake Medical. Both are rated extremely high.

The biggest question now is - Where will you be located on the island - on the southside or on the northside???

Not sure of our location as we have never been there before - - but we are staying at Four Winds - a timeshare property if that helps. Thanks very much for all the info - HOPEFULLY we will not need it!

Four Winds is a nice property and is right on the beach. There's a shopping center almost across the street (not many grocery stores on Longboat) so you're lucky there.

As to your proximity to a hospital - you're about mid-island or a bit to the south but you have good hospital facilities there with Sarasota Memorial and Blake Medical.

Go have a great time at your time share. We did once and wound up buying there on the island!!
