Could anybody please recommend somewhere in Sedona where we could take a 'beginners'' short (no more than an hour) horseriding trail, at a reasonable price? None of us (myself, hub and son) been on a horse before and are somewhat nervous about the idea - but would love to give it a go.

We REALLY liked the beginners rdie at the stables that are next to Red Rock State Park. The name is something like Trailride Adventures (I know ADventure is right, it is the first word I am unsure of- but I am almost sure that is it). We had a ride booked w/another stable (A Day in the West)and they cancelled on us the day of the ride due to not having enough people (there were 4 of us), so beware of them. We loved the ride at the place we went, it's beautifula rea to ride in but not too rugged for beginners (I am not a beginner but my husband one one of my kifd were, and it was fine for them). I will lok in my Sedona book tonight and recheck the name and repost if I am wrong.

Was it Trailhorse Adventures? Their info on their website looks good (www.trailhorses.com) though they don't say where they're located, or the times of their rides - and you can't do online bookings. Guess I could email them!
Did you do the 1 hour ride or the 2 hours one which includes riding over the creek? I love the sound of the second one, but don't know if I could stay in the saddle for a whole 2 hours!

Yes, that was it,and we did the one hour ride- didn't cross the creek but we had enough adventure because you do go up and down a bit w/the terrain. The kids loved it. We opted for the dinner afterwards- they grill steak or chicken and we just decided not to go out to eat at a restaurant that night but to eat out in the open. That was nice too, but you might opt to go out to eat afterwards if you do it in the evening.
They are pretty good about fitting the rider to the proper horse (they understand if you are a first time rider) and you will all wear helmets. Don't worry too much. Afterwards you'll be glad they did it.
BTW- be sure to stop by Red Rock State Park if you get a chance (next door to the horse place or at least down the ame road). And if you are there during a full moon, RR state park has full moon hikes guided by the park rangers that are incredible.

That is currently the ONLY Sedona horseback riding place - they even do the A Day in the West trips and all the other companies who offer riding.

I think you do a little better dealing directly with them, both price-wise and their service. We made reservations directly with them and my daughter and I (both experienced riders) had a wonderful two hour sunset ride with a guide - no other people!
