I haven't stayed there recently because I swore I would never stay there again the one time that I did stay there. I hated it. I remember that it was very noisy and I didn't like the rooms but, I have to admit that I can't remember why. We were facing the street and could smell diesel fuel from trucks in our room. I did go there to gamble last Christmas and really liked the machines they had but, the service was just awful. I should have complained but, I didn't. I would order a drink and the girl never returned. Then I motioned a girl to come to me and she said ,"just a minute " but, never returned. It's like night and day compared to Harrah's. Harrah's has the best rooms and excellent service.

Usually, you recieve service before you tip. If the girl never returns with the drink or doesn't come to you when you motion to them to take your order how do you tip them? I'm talking about poor service here and I never got the opportunity to tip them. I was there for hours and never recieved a drink, that doesn't happen in Harveys or Harrahs. YES, I tip good service very well.

Disagree all you want , I really don't care. I'm answering big69bob's post about my EXPERIENCE at the Horizon. I have stayed at Harrah's for the past ten years and always have recieved EXCELLENT service. If you any personal experiences to add, then DO IT!

We had a 2-night stand at Horizon this Memorial day
I was pleasantly surprised by the room and the pool. Alpine tower is cheaper then Aspen, and I did not expect much, but the furnishing and bedding looked nice and clean (compare to Harvey's where the furniture looked like brought from a flee market). Iron in rooms. View of the snow-capped mountains and golf course with a lake.
The outdoor pool area is very nice, large, just great! I didn't like the casino as it did not have the new slot machines with paper tickets, we mostly played across the street at Caesar's.
The movie theater - the most comfortable chairs ever!
Buffet and Four Seasons - the only buffet not offering any fruit for Sunday brunch! Four Seasons has awful coffee served to us lukewarm. If you order soda remind the waiter to bring a straw!
I am used to producing a paper copy of reservation confirmation upon checking out as almost every hotel tries to overcharge. This was the first time ever a manager had to get involved for a correct charge. And the rate was confirmed upon check-in!
I will stay there again for the price and location, only eat elsewhere.

can't speak to the horizon but we recently stayed in harvey's and we were pleased. i stayed in the older tower with a renovated room and the parents stayed in a more deluxe room in newer tower. both rooms were clean and furniture was very nice.

Stayed at The Horizon in June 2003 for one night. Had a room overlooking the pool area. It had a large balcony. The room was very large and clean. I played the casino for a few hours and recall quite enjoying myself (e.g. winning). The only bad part was the huge line at the cashier to cash in my two buckets of quarters. There didn't seem to be any smaller change kiosks. Consequently I didn't wait in line and ended up putting my winnings back into the machines (just as "they" had planned).
Overall for $79 a night I thought it was a good hotel.
