HOPPA Bus- Heathrow Airport- beware they charge!

Enroute from France to the US we spent a night at the Travel Inn** at Heathrow. When we inquired at the Heathrow Info Center right next to the one of the exits about how to get to the hotel, they said take the Hoppa Bus -- it's free. We had no English money with us and intended to survive on credit cards for our 12 hours or so in the UK. Info sent us to the wrong terminal, wrong bus number and it took us over 2 hours to get the correct directions for what turned out to be a 15 minute ride. (We met up with an elderly Australian couple; he had a cane and was wandering around so long that he was fatigued from the incorrect directions that he could hardly speak.) And to top it off when we finally found the correct spot to pick up the bus, we found it cost 3 pounds each. They were "gracious" enough to accept 6 Euros each for the ride.

**BTW Travel Inn Heathrow turned out to be very nice. Particularly liked the fact that the duvet had a sheet covering and no filthy bedspread. It felt very clean not to have those dirty blankets that probably have not been cleaned in 3 years. A real plus for me; I hate to think how long it has been since the blankets in hotels have been changed. This is the first time I've seen this done and it was a welcome change.

This is the US forum; probably you should cross-post it to Europe.

The Hoppa Bus is a joke, but a £3 joke, which I personally don't find particularly funny.

You can't "remove" it. You have to repost it on the Europe board. You could highlight and copy to save retyping.

Thanks, Marilyn. I highlighted it as you suggested and it worked!

You can also e-mail Fodors ([email protected]) and ask them to remove the thread, if you want.
