We stayed at the Westin riverwalk and it was a very nice property. La Mansion seemed to be nice as well. however you say that decided on San Antonio over an island for fun???? I don't if it is only me but I thought this city was really boring. NYC or Vegas may be a more fun trip.

I stayed at La Mansión del Río last month for a conference. Lovely hotel, impeccable service. My room was a little small, but very comfortable and extremely clean. Hotel restaurant was good. Its sister property is the Watermark, which has a full-service spa as well as an excellent restaurant called Pesca.

The Watermark would be my choice for a honeymoon, to be honest, although you're not precisely slumming at La Mansión.

San Antonio isn't a town of thrill-a-second, heart-stopping excitement, but you should be able to scare up a good time. I suppose. The liveliest clubs on the Riverwalk tend to get the off-their-a$$ drunk frat-boy, military-boy and Girls-Gone-Wild clientèle, sure-- but basically harmless. Not my scene-- but I did have a mellow good time regardless. A change of scenery is always nice.
