ooh, yeah, the hyatt regency there is gorgeous! obviously, if you want less kids, you probably have to be willing to spend a bit more money. so the more ritzy areas of the islands would fit the bill, like kapalua on the west side or near the ritz on the south of maui--actually if you're into seclusion, hana side has some nice resorts too and that is off the beaten path. you could try the north shore of kauai as well. on the big island, there are some great bed and breakfasts on the hilo side as well as the captain cook area but my FAVORITE was the kilauea lodge, just outside of the national park. their restaurant is also KILLER. yeah, i think that would get my top vote.

We were married in 1995 and took our honeymoon at the Hyatt Regency on Kauai. It was beautiful and not crowded at all in October. There were a few children around, but not many. Helicopter ride around the island was awesome.

When is the honeymoon? We went to the Hyatt on Kauai in June and there was a TON of children!!! Also went to the Princeville at the same time and there were very few kids.

Alooohaaaa, As asked, what month?
If you consider Kauai, I'd suggest Princeville/Hanalei area for a honeymoon.

But, if you go from Nov thru April, maybe Poipu would be a better "weather-wise" choice.

The few times we've been over at the Hyatt, there were a lot of kids.
Congrats and Mahalo,
Kal

61 to go!

Sept 2001 we visited the Hyatt on Kauai and did not see a lot of kids. Actually there were very few children. The Hyatt is very nice. Sister went there in Nov the day after Thanksgiving and did not complain about too many children either.

Hey Kal,

I got a new bottle of sunscreen all lined up. SPF 45 just like the poolside waitresses suggested last time we were in Maui. No longer can I afford those sunburns from SPF 4 or 8. Why do thay make that stuff anyway?

Hey Kal and Suz, took 45 spf with me and never used it once and I'm a fair-skinned blonde (OK I pre-tanned at home before I got there.) But I did buy some "Maui Babe Browning Lotion" on Kauai which gave my tan a perfect shade. Still have it after a month at home. Wouldn't do it every year, but this vacation was special. Sorry, Grant, didn't mean to get off-topic. Here's my advice: I second the Princeville Hotel. We used the beach there in September and it was the most romantic spot ever! As an aside: got a Mai Tai from the hotel's pool bar and that ONE drink had us giggling uncontrollably! Must have been three times as strong as any Mai Tai we had before or since. Maybe the bartender was new?...Don't do what we did - try to go snorkeling to sober up!

My wife and I spent our 7-day honeymoon during the last week in August 2002 at the Hyatt Regency at Poipu Beach on the island of Kauai.

It was amazing - the hotel staff placed us in a secluded upper floor room with a pretty view of the mountain and golf course. It's a little expensive but well worth it! See if you can find a promotional breakfast-included package.

Aloooohaaaa all,
Sunscreen and a honeymoon aren't really "off topic"! ;-)

Suuuz, The people who use the #s 4 and 8 SPF sunscreens were probably the same people sitting in the dermatologist's and then the surgeon's office with me, only younger.
Maggi, We like those types of bartenders! They seem to appear at whatever bar we pick? Funny.
Kal
