Homer Fishing / Palmer

Looking for a good Halibut charter boat out of Homer. Will probally try to fish on May 9th. Any good suggestions?
Also, was thinking about spending 2 days in the palmer area. Is there enought to see and do in that area. I heard that they have airboats and jetboats to ride up to one of the glacier. Has anyone tried these?
Thanks

We used Captain Mike's and had such a wonderful experience. We will use him again on our next visit. http://www.captmike.com/

Not familiar with the jetboats around Palmer, but nearby Independence Mine and the Matanuska Glacier are both great areas to visit.

You will be quite early in the tourist season, so be sure to verify opening dates of services and roads.

Hi, you can go to the face of the Knik Glacier by boat (www.huntercreekoutfitters.com) or by ATV (www.youralaskavacation.com ? I can't find his website in Google, but this must be it. Tom's phone is 907-745-1577. He just left on vacation, but his voice mail may give more info). You can drive out an hour north of Palmer on the Glenn Highway Scenic Byway to trek or ice-climb on the Matanuska Glacier with Mica Guides (www.micaguides.com). That's super great and can be done by anyone. I really recommend the ATV ride. I love going on that tour. My mom and I went when she was up here (she's 70) and I've gone with other guests. It's so fun, we saw lots of critters up close, and the surroundings are outstanding. We'd stop and glass for grizzlies when the sheep would suddenly bolt up the mountains. The Knik River/Glacier is so pristine and unusual in how it rises from tidal brackish to uplands to alpine in such a short distance. The plants and animals change so quickly along that journey as the ecosystems shift. Anyway, other stuff includes Hatcher Pass. It's quite likely we'll still have lots of snow up there at the beginning of May, but it's a gorgeous drive and you can walk yourselves through the defunct gold mine community of buildings up there (there's a path with sign-boards describing how it was for the men to live up there as miners). The Musk Ox Farm and Reindeer Farm are neat opportunities to get up close to those critters. You can feed the reindeer and pet them, see how dense their fur is. There's definitely plenty to fill your time in this area!

Oops. I put a question mark after the wrong website. The ATV guy (www.youralaskavacation.com) is correct. It's the Hunter Creek one that I'm questioning, and it's his phone number I put in. Sorry for the confusion.
