Hollywood Walk Of Fame - Voted "Worst Tourist Attraction On Earth!"
For years there have been posts from people outside of Los Angeles being excited that when they visit here they will be able to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For years, I have told them that the HWOF is a horrible and disgusting place to visit and not to waste their time. My advice has been vindicated in a recent survey. The Hollywood Walk of Fame was recently listed as "The Worst Tourist Attraction on Earth." An honor richly deserved in my opinion.

On my list of "the world's best tourist attractions," the HWOF wouldn't make the top 100.
But lists are always so entertaining... Click on the different category icons (TripAdvisor, Google, etc.) to see rankings by review source. On Insta, the HWOF is #29 which I think reflects negatively on Insta users. And if you just want to feel safe, apparently you need to spend your vacation in Dubai.

The list is a bit Eurocentric in the top 30 or so. The top half is really light on Asia.
Ranked 99th, the HWOF would be "worst on Earth" only if there were 99 tourist attractions in the world. Saw it getting bashed on Reddit. I think that a lot of people picked it and got it in top 99 as a joke.
Wall, SD, is worth a stop to visit the National Grasslands Visitors Center. It is appropriately sized relative to people's interest in the topic. You can learn all you want to know about grasslands there and in a short period time. I would rank it higher than HWOF.

Never heard of Stasher, but noted that Machu Picchu beat out HWOF in a squeaker. Enuf said.
Google reveals that "Stasher, the world’s first luggage storage network, took on the task of creating a ranking based on all kinds of different factors, such as the popularity of a place across social media platforms and the overall review ratings on travel websites."

mlgb: I wasn't being sarcastic, I was quite surprised how satisfying the Walk is to visit, and the immediate neighborhood which I had heard was dodgy but no, just fine (stayed there, HIE, free parking). Did not care for the huge mall which is out of context, but other than that, recommended.

maybe the tears of joy that mlgb posted were agreement with you, that finally someone came out and said the walk was great. I don't agree. Also, the Everglades are not boring

Some people seem to like it. It averages four stars from nearly 40,000 google reviews. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it nor would I go out of my way to avoid it. I've been to Los Angeles twice but I can't recall if I visited it or not. I probably did because the times I've been in LA, I have stayed in West Hollywood, which isn't too far from the Walk of Fame. If I did, it apparently didn't leave a big impact on me.
(fwiw - I'd sooner visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame than take the two hour trek up to Machu Picchu.

The drug dealers and hookers must have had the day off.

All the places in the world and some amusment park in Germany makes the list. Wonders of the world, World Heritage Sites, local stuff, and tourist traps all on the same list. HWOF deserves top 100 on a tourist traps place and is not without merit.
