Hiking Sandia Mountains

Can anyone suggest a hike in the Sandia Mountains. We are fit hikers in great shape. We will have about 2 hours to do a hike while driving up the Sandia Crest National Scenice Byway.

We have done parts of the Cienega Canyon Trail and the Tree Spring Trail and enjoyed both.

They are both on the east side of the Sandias. Cienega Canyon comes fairly quickly after you turn off Highway 14, and Tree Spring is...farther up the road, but I don't remember where exactly.

We also did the Tree Spring Trail with my husband in March this year and it was fantastic! While hiking, we went to the top of the mountain where we saw stunning views of Albuquerque. There were some chipmunks around. It’s a terrific place for the weekend!
