Hertz discount code- any ideas??

Hi
I am traveling to kauai in September. I will be renting a Excursion (due to the amount of people going on the trip, and for our family it is comfortable). I read in another thread where some of you know of discount codes to use on the web. i wanted to know if anyone had a good discount or promotional code for Hertz. I am a Hertz member to.

Thanks and I enjoy reading all of your great threads!

Thank you Paul!

I am going to keep trying to get other discount codes. I tried these and it said they were not for the time frame I need (September). I have trying to figure out a way to lower my cost of rental car.
Thanks again.

Lately I've been getting better rates with the US Air discount code of 157348 for Hertz then i have with the AAA rate.

With a big group, we find it's usually cheaper to get two midsize cars...plus it gives you a little more freedom, 7 or 8 people all going somewhere together and synchronizing is often a chore. Plus, in the front car you can talk about the people in the back car and I do like to whine!

You may want the daily collision insurance with an Excursion as well. Most credit card insurance waiver coverage does not cover an SUV larger than an Explorer.

Also consider a minivan. You can buy a soft sided roof rack for not very much $$$

The AAA code is one of the many advantages of being a member of the AAA. In Seattle it is 260, but it won't do you any good unless you are a member of AAA in Washington.

I recently found out the hard way to be very careful when you get up to the rental car desk! I had already prepaid for our Dollar car in Lihue for the week though a Pleasant Holidays package - BUT when my spouse picked up the car he upgraded the mid-size to a convertible and then added an insurance option. Dollar ended up adding over $600. to our credit card! You have to listen very carefully to what is being said or you will end up paying well over $100. a day for your car!

Also check with Enterprise--they often have good deals.

So true, Crazy. One of the things that I hear them saying at the car rental counter these days is "You probably don't need our deluxe insurance package and you're all set with just the basic, right?". Say yes and add $25 a day to your rental!

Check with your insurance agent before leaving home, your own car policy probably covers you in a rental car. If not, many gold credit cards include this coverage for you as long as you rent and pay with the card.

Rentalcodes.com! I should have known there was something like that!

Do the rental companies ever check (or do they even care) that someone has a right to use a certain code? And Has anyone ever had a problem using a code when they weren't a member of a certain group or didn't use the right credit card?

I would hate to use a code to make a reservation, and then end up paying a lot more for rental when I couldn't produce a certain discount card.

The best deal I've received recently was for Costco members from Hertz for a midsize or higher class rental for 5 days or more, including a Saturday night, rentals beginning on or before 11/30/04. Mention PC#182652 and Hertz discount CDP#336436.

Thank you everyone for your great advice! I wish I had the money or points to take you all to Hawaii with me.

First of all thanks for the codes, I tried my Marriott rewards and they rate was pretty good. I never thought of using Costco (for which I am a member) and I will also check up on the insurance from my Amex and my own insurance company. Just like to make sure I am covered.
A few years back we rented a car in Ireland and chose no additional insurance. Eveyrthing went great but when we came back we found out we were not covered at all. Scary!

Thanks again!

I just booked our vacation through Costco and they set us up with Dollar.
Should I ask for Hertz? Will that be a better deal?
Thanks.

To find out if you can get a better deal from Hertz just go to their web site, put in your dates, type of car and both codes mentioned above and you will see what the price for a Hertz car will be.

Maybe this will help. For a limited time, Hertz is offering sign up for free Hertz #1 Club Gold link:
http://tinyurl.com/hertzgold . Once you signed up and you had your very first rental with Hertz, you will enjoy go to designated gold counter & gold parking spots, speedy and expedited service without stopping at counter if you wish, instant return, better upgrade opportunities...etc.

When booking your car on Hertz.com, click "I have a discount (CDP, PC, Coupon or other code)" check box, enter "1911795" in Discount/CDP/Club Code box and "best" under RQ box. This code offers a great discount, most importantly, it offers free LDW insurance (this information is not displayed on the screen) when you rent compact to full size in North America (US and Canada). On top of it, you also benfit from underage fee is wavied, free second driver and unlimited miles in North America when renting from compact to full size.
