Herron House or Curry Mansion in Key West

My husband and I are planning a trip to Key West the end of October and I am getting ready to make our hotel reservations. From previous posts it seems both these hotels are nice. What I would like is some feedback on these hotels from anyone who has stayed at them. Which one should I choose? Thanks in advance

My husband and I stayed at Heron House in February 2001. Our room, the only one left when we made reservations, was one of the more expensive rooms with its own balcony overlooking the street (had trees in front that blocked view from the street up but allowed us to look down). It was great having our own balcony- sat outside and read the paper in the morning. The room was very nice- the bathroom was fine, but a little small and a little dated. The orchids were beautiful. The staff was very professional and firendly. My only suggestion would be to question where the room is- there are a couple rooms right behind where the "breakfast bar" is set up. Noise might be a problem if you are not an early riser.

I've never stayed at either but the Heron House has a better reputation.

With all due respect, if you want a bed and breakfast, it would be tough to beat the Heron House. The prior poster is right - we had a room right along the wall of the breakfast bar, so if we were late sleepers, it would have been noisy. The B&B is really nice, the desk staff is great (George and Nathan will be most helpful) and we enjoyed our fellow guests. Try the Marquesa Inn across the street if you want more of a hotel, small, upscale experience. If you want a Hyatt, there's one in Key West. No matter what you choose, have a good time. Try A&B seafood for dinner.

Once again, I'm only going by hearsay, since we've always stayed at the Hyatt or the Galleon. But as far as B&Bs go, the Heron House would be hard to beat, and as the previous poster mentioned the Marquesa Hotel is lovely. They both have websites, you might look them up.

Stayed at the Heron House for five nights in March. It was great. Centrally located, very convenient to all of Duval Street. But once you enter the gates, it is very quiet and relaxing. It has a very nice tropical mood, with a nice continental breakfast buffet and wine and cheese at happy hour. The staff was very friendly and professional. It was definitely an excellent experience for me.

Just returned from a week at the Heron House in Key West. We had a garden terrace suite with the breakfast area just outside our door. I am a very early riser but had read these rooms could be noisy in the morning so I listened and could hear nothing! Our suite was delightful and would not hesitate to stay in the same one again (#11). We LOVED Heron House and were very glad we stayed there!
