help with directions

I am traveling to Cary NC but stopping in Alexandria VA. Trying to avoid GW bridge in NY and as much of 95 as possible. Any suggestions please?

You don't say where in MA, but there's more than one way to avoid the GW Bridge and NYC. You could:

Take the Mass Pike to Route I-84.

Follow I-84 to Route 684 to White Plains.

Follow 684 to I-287.

Follow 287 to the Tappan Zee Bridge.

Cross the bridge and take the exit for the Garden State Parkway. Get on the GS Pkway, and then take the exit for the NJ Turnpike and continue south.

Have you tried plotting various routes using Google Maps or Mapquest?

Or if you are from Western Mass, take I90W to NYS Thruway I87 south. Key point is cross the Hudson River on I90 (thruway), I84 (Newburgh / Beacon) , or I287 (TZB)

Vincenzo lists route I have taken for a decade. The problem with using any mapping program is that they love the GW Bridge and almost always route you that way.

To avoid, enter Danbury as a waypoint, and then possibly White Plains, NY

Turn left at the old barn and continue for another mile or so until you see the white rocks stacked by the side of the road. Bear right at the fork and make the next left.
You can't miss it.

Has the cocktail hour begun early?

This was an eminently reasonable question.

Why the sarcasm, Logandog?
