I jus saw on the news there that 7 counties in OR are requiring masks now. Who knows what September will bring, but I thought I would share this. Also, the Governor has asked that the gorge remain closed. So I would have a backup plan regardless of what area you decide to visit.

The above is about California, but pretty much basic common sense which I suppose would apply for Oregon and other states as well

Right now, Oregon's second largest cluster of new Covid19 cases is in Newport. This is due to an outbreak at a seafood processing plant. Newport started with 60 cases, is now at 226 cases. It's a big town, not a city. We have friends who were going to spend the week there and cancelled. Newport is central coast, on some of the routes being suggested.
Obviously, things will change between now and then. But this is an example why you don't want to be locked in to your lodgings. I would suggest either booking directly or booking on something like Booking.com and being sure to choose the refundable and check the terms of the property.

Hi mms. Grrrr!! I too am now getting the paywall warning to subscribe for digital access! Thinking it might "re-set" each day, I tried yesterday and today, but still can't access. Iirc, the article was pretty much common-sense stuff: that each county has its own regulations so a good idea to check that county's public health website; that rural countries less affected by covid infections will appreciate visitors wearing masks; that many businesses have closed and so, before counting on them being there, people should check the places' websites or ph numbers; that most hotels have opened for leisure travelers.
