help on hotels
Going to Hawaii in June, need help with hotels. Honolulu for 3 nights, Halekulani, manderin oriental or parc hotel? the parc is a great deal with car rental, hotel and breakfast, sister hotel to Halekulani.
Maui, 5 nights at the ritz, any other suggestions? FS sold out. stayed at many Ritz before and really like them.
Lanai, Lodge or Manale Bay?
thanks for all your help, celebrating birthday and anniversary so wanted to make it very, very special.

I'm sure you thought you were posting on a Hawaii board, but actually there's just one long list of messages, so your title looks so vague that very few people will open it. I suggest that you start over again, but title your post "something more like "Help choose Hawaii hotels." Also it would be helpful to know your budget concerns and what you consider to be desirable in a hotel -- services? View? Beach access? Great food?

I would spring for the Halekulani since it's actually on the beach. The parc is across the street. I think you'll enjoy the Ritz on Maui very much. I vote for the Manele Bay over the Lodge. I've only seen them both from the outside but prefer the location of the former. They are both very luxurious...

If money is no object, I don't think you can go wrong at The Halekulani! It's supposed to be divine. BUT then again, if you would like to be away from things a bit, my sister stayed at The Mandarin Oriental, and absolutely LOVED it. Thought it was grand.... When some stay at the Ritz on Maui, they are a bit disappointed in the location, that it is so windy, and that there's quite a hike to the beach, if I'm remembering correctly. The hotel itself is supposed to be just wonderful, but be sure you like the location. I myself am a Wailea girl, and there are great resorts down there!

Don't know about Halekulani or Parc, but I wasn't overly impressed with the Mandarin Oriental. The pool is really tiny.
Ritz sounds good, also the next door Kapalua Bay hotel is nice. There is an auction for KB hotel at luxurylink.com.
Lanai- Do you want to be by the beach? If so MB is your only choice. It takes about 20-25 mins to get to the Lodge and the weather is cooler (light sweater long sleeved shirt). Beauty wise the Lodge is better.

THe Halekulani is in Waikiki in the thick of all the action--it's very nice. The mandarin is more secluded, out of Waikiki (but not that far) and is more luxurious, IMO.
If you want to take advantage of the Parc deal--we stayed there and I can highly recommend it. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is quite nice and the service is impeccable. The rooms are Japanese-style, very modern minimalist, with great ocean views. The beach is just across the street, as is the Halekulani (you can sign for food and drinks over there, but you can't use their pool. No big deal. The Halekulani pool isn't that great. There is a small pool and exercise room at the Parc for you to use.) The breakfast buffet at the Parc is very good, and the car/free parking is a great bargain. I really like this hotel for the price. They treated us VERY well.
The Ritz is nice, but you might also want to consider the Hyatt or SHeraton in Kaanapali, or the Kea Lani, Renaissance, or Grand Wailea in Wailea. I really like the Wailea area.
Lodge or Manele Bay--we stayed at the Manele Bay and preferred it to the Lodge, but some people love the Lodge. The Lodge doesn't feel like "Hawaii"--it has an English hunting lodge feel and it's upland far away from the beach. Manele Bay is on the beach and has a very tropical feel.

I was thinking of the Grand Wailea but a little concerned about how big it is and the family feel. any other recommendations for the Wailea are or is Kapulua ok, I'm a beach person so but husband is not.
the lodge at koele will be great for our last two nights in the islands to totally relax and not do much.

The Halekulani is truly the House befitting Heaven. The service is impecable, and truly exceptional. Make sure you have dinner at La Mer (the best French restaurant in Hawaii), and enjoy sunset at the House Without a Key. While I like the Mandarin, the Halekulani holds a special place in my heart. The Parc (built on top of the Halekulani's parking lot...hence the name...) has great deals, and since it is on top of the parking lot, the first floor of rooms actually start around the 8th floor. Good views. But Not the Halekulani.
Re Lanai: The Lodge is more like a Plantation Owners residence. No A/C, but at a 1600 foot elevation, it's cool all the time. (bring sweaters/sweatshirts for the evening.) Their main restaurant is the only one in all the islands that requires a man to wear a jacket for dinner. If you forget one, they'll provide one for you. Definitely not for children; they'd be bored stiff. The Manele Bay is more Mediterranean in flavor, and has more families.
