Help needed on what footwear for the beach

Hello,

I know this sounds a bit stupid, BUT here goes anyway.

I will be heading to the Oregon coast end of September into October. What is the best footwear for the beach? A beach shoe, sandals, walking shoes? I am not fond of walking barefoot there because of unseen hazards in the sand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wore "Cayman" Crocs to the beach a couple of weeks ago and they were great.

At Cannon Beach I just wear regular walking shoes, but sandals should work just as well. There is no need to buy anything special.

Ditto here. Loved my Crocs on the beach.

I've worn flip-flops, Tevas, water shoes and just about all water/ beach type shoes and the Crocs were great!

Sand in the Crocs, sand out of the Crocs.
Water in the Crocs, water out of the Crocs.

gomiki, just a little sand got in, but as you lifted your foot it slid right out. Really kinda cool.

A little girl and I had a blast sitting on the pontoon boat and kicking the boat out into a cove. There was absolutely no drag with our Crocs. I felt like an animal with flippers more than a human with shoes.

Starrsville, have you seen the latest croc style. I love it!! They are very simple in design with two thin straps going over the top of the foot. And they are chocolate brown with pink inner soles--yummy. I'm going out to the west coast for ten days in June and July and I plan on wearing them on the beach. You can hardly tell you have them on. I haven't seen them in a mens version just womens. I can't stand anything between my toes so this style is just right.

Those are MUCH improved over the clog style! Stamp of approval! I actually had a brief moment of coveting the seafoam ones. Oh no.

I'm with the Croc group! They are so comfortable, makes walking in the sand and water a pleasure.

Look at Land's End mail order catalog or online. They have lots of kinds of beach/water shoes that are not expensive.

Myself I just wear an old pair of regular sneakers, like I use at the gym, but old ones that I don't mind sacrificing to getting all sandy.

I don't unerstand the point of walking on the beach in sandals if you don't want sand on your feet... there's no way to keep it out no matter what kind you wear. Unless you go for the full on tennis shoe and socks... doesn't that defeat the purpose of walking on the beach?

I like to walk where the sand is damp and firm... just in barefeet... no ynseen hazards... just nice sand.

Good luck.

Okay, you Croc people have convinced me to try them. I would never even try on the Crocs because I hated the look and was afraid I would find them too comfy to pass up. However, I went to their website and found these. I don't think my husband would shun me in this pair of normal looking flip flops. I ordered the brown and pink! I hope they are as comfy as you all say they are!

I vote for Crocs too. You don't have to worry about them getting wet. And they make your feet strangely buoyant. I'd get ones with heel straps for the beach so you can keep them from floating off your feet in the waves.
