Hi guys - am drawing a total blank on Christmas gift for hubby this year. He's so hard to buy for so thought I would ask for ideas here. He loves traveling, especially to Hawaii. Also loves going to Arkansas each year to fish at Bull Shoals. Interests include deep sea (and fresh water) fishing, scuba diving, hiking. Has a 200 gallon fresh water fish tank where he breeds fancy guppies and sells them to a local pet shop. Each year he enters a giant pumpkin contest - last year his came in at 843 lbs. so that takes up a huge part of his summer, growing those goofy things.

Budget will probably run around $100. Any thoughts you can send my way would be helpful (of course I've asked him a million times and he has no clue what he wants).

I hope I don't sound like a lunatic and this may not be much help to you but...my husband and I don't usually give each other presents for Christmas. Instead of presents we try to make a bigger effort to slow down and enjoy each others' company.

You might think of getting dressed up and eating out at a cozy romantic restaurant you've never tried before that is inspired by your travels. I would find a seafood restaurant that is known for flying fish in daily or find a great sushi restaurant.

My husband loves when I make the effort with hair, make up, nail polish, hose, heels, and a fancy dress for dinner with just him. During the day I consult him on which color nail polish, which shoes, and what kind of hose (fishnet? seamed?)he wants me to wear. He loves knowing I'm doing those things just for him, not to impress people at a social event or party.

We always schedule "our" dinner on a Saturday when neither of us has worked all day long and are tired and grumpy.

Of course this plan of action would need to be agreed upon before the buying season begins so everyone is on the same page. You can't really spring a "no presents but my presence" gift on him if you know he's getting you a gift.

ct....I have made it ubundantly clear that anybody or group of bodies who wish to make my universally famous yet little known New Year "A" List, will insure the accomplishment of said position if awake Christmas morning to find a Rival Crock Pot BBQ Pit...Target listing it now at $89 and either Target or W/M was throwing in a $10 gift card with purchase thereof...

You can get an inexpensive gps to help him find his way when hiking. I'd definitely like to have one!

I often find fishing item for my husband at orvis.com and he likes their equipment, etc. -sometimes on the recommendation of a fishing buddy of his a fishing buddy who can give you a suggestion of something he thinks he would like to have? there are also books/videos on the hobby -
and/or a subscription to a fishing magazine he doesn't have -

Does he already have one of those multi-purpose tools. I think Leatherman was the original but there are other, possibly better versions. My husband is giving our son a battery charger so he can have his back. One year he loved his present, an old used book about growing up on a Maine farm (Squires Farm, CA Stephens). He doesn't liked to read much but he loved this book and we hunted down some others by the same author. Maybe your husband would like a book set in the places he like to travel to? A new Hawaiian shirt? Really nice binoculars? I love my Cape Cod weeder, maybe a really good garden tool?
