Help!! Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo or Flalmingo

We are planning a vegas trip this july mid-week. We are planning to spend a lot of time by the pool as july gets very hot in vegas. How do the rooms, pool area and pool side snack bars prices compare at these three hotels????

Mandalay Bay is better on every count.
So if cost is not a limiting factor, MB's your answer.

carol-we are not going with our children. We are looking for a pleasant atmosphere and we do not like to fight for poolside chairs or have to get up at 6:00am to reserve a chair. We also would like a resort type atmosphere, palm trees, lush etc. Any suggestions??

Kevin: Las Vegas has gotten so popular that even during the summer the weekends often sell out at better hotels. Which means that the hotels with the better pools have crowding problems, since the pools attract lots of people when it's hot.
So if you want a nice pool, you may have to go stake out a chaise lounge by 10:30 or so (not 6, thank goodness).
The best pools among your list are at Mandalay. Big trees, an actual beach with sand, wave pool, lazy river, other pools. It's a centerpiece there. The restaurants at MB are unique, very popular but expensive.
F and MC also have good pool areas, and they may be a little less crowded during summer. But for maximum enjoyment and 'wow factor' MB is by far the best.

I would not choose Monte Carlo if you are going without kids...I have heard that there is not much sitting space and it is quite crowded with kids. The MB has a great pool area, but is at the end of the strip. Have you thought about Caesar's Palace...we saw the pool area from a third floor and it looked great...and I think a better location.

Vegas resident here. Mandalay Bay is expensive, but has a pool complete with a beach and wave pool. If money is not an issue, go with Mandalay Bay. Some other plusses...it has many gourmet restaurants such as Rum Jungle and Red Square. It also house the House of Blues, which has a great Sunday gospel breakfast with live music.

Next would be the Flamingo, which has a very tropical pool, and a great location, right in the middle of everything. Rooms are standard Hilton. You know what to expect, but last time I stayed there, I found the rooms unimpressive.

Monte Carlo's rooms are less than spectacular, and while it has a beautiful facade and lobby, the interior of the casino leaves a lot to be desired. There also seem to be too may children in this resort. I think it's a family hotel for the folks who are looking for something a step above Excalibur.

I was at Mandalay Bay over this Father's Day weekend. Mandalay Bay by a land slide. There are multiple pools, a lazy river and a wave pool. Poolside service was good on the weekdays and less superb on the weekend because the crowds do flock to Vegas from the West Coast. Prices are rather high at the pool(drinks were 5-7 dollars and food was 6-10 dollars), but they are at all the newer and nice resorts, you get what you pay for. Warning- Lazy River charges $20.00 for float and you can't bring your own. We didn't have a problem getting a chair on the weekend or during the week. On the weekends we had to work harder, but they would give you chairs that only had towels on them, that had been sitting for a while. The grounds were tropical and beautiful for Las Vegas. We visited many of the other hotels and found MB to be heads above the others in the pool category. It has Shark Reef and House of Blues. RumJungle restaurant has a Brazilian flair and it is best to go later in the night as you will then not have to pay the cover when it becomes a nightclub. Red Square was also good and Wolfgang Puck's Restaurant was very good. All of these restaurants were expensive(its not your father's Las Vegas) but the portions were rather large and I would suggest spliting some dinners and having an appetizer or desert. House of Blues was cool and we saw David Sanborn with great seats.

Also saw Mystere(at Treasure Island), as it is a visual piece of art, a so called avant garde circus. Everyone should see it once. My wife was mystified at the strength and agility of the performers.

As this was my 40th birthday, it was a great time. Any more questions, just post em. Rooms are very spacious and they had tubs and showers. Nice marble baths. The casino ceilings are a little higher than most and it seemed less smoky than most.
