I have done a rather stupid thing and need some local know-how. I have booked a hotel in Chinatown and did not receive confirmation of this booking or write down the details. I do however, have the credit card debit to prove that a transaction did take place.
What do I know? Not a lot. It was 3 star (Ithink) and it was very close to one of the bridges that goes over to Brooklyn. I remember thinking that it will be a noisy few nights.
I have gone searching and thought I found it in Hotel 91 on East Broadway but they don't appear to have a booking for me and it doesn't seem to be close enough to a bridge anyway. And yet,Broadway sounds familiar because I remeber being surprised that Broadway swung around to the East in this part of the island.
I'm aware that I sound vague, disorganised...you name it!! But I really need some suggestions to help track this place down.
Any ideas??

Broadway and East Broadway are nit the same - Broadway heads straight down the island and doesn;t head east.

If you go to your credit card statement there should be a phone number next to the charge. Call it and you will have your hotel. If there is no phone number call CC customer service and ask who put through the charge.

ACtually Brodway starts on the upper west side and ends on the
west side having crossed several avenues coming east, at major cross streets, but does end up on the west side. There are a couple of hotels near Broadway in Chinatown but you should have the name of the hotel on the CC receipt, or as nytraveler said call the CC company and ask then call the hotel for more info.

Go to maps.google.com and get a map of Chinatown and then use the search nearby clickable link for hotels. Someone posted today on tripadvisor about booking the awful sounding Sun (Bright) Hotel at 140 Hester St. I hope it wasn't you. The Comfort Inn Manhattan Bridge is not a terrible option.

It's true that part of Broadway angles, rather than being a regular part of the street grid - since it was a road long before there was a grid. But it only angles from 72 st to lower midtown - and always stays on the west side. East Broadway is a completely different St.

There is also a West Broadway that runs from Vesey Street to Houston Street.

Actually at 23rd it crosses 5th so it is on the east side then.

Have you tried calling your credit card company and ask for the full name and address of the company?

I know the building -- 91 E Broadway is VERY close to the Manhattan Bridge. Does that ring a bell from when you booked?

And if you have the proof of cc charge that should help identify the hotel and your reservation.

I think your best bet is to book another room and, if you are charged for the room you can't locate, think of a logical reason for protesting the charge with your credit card company.

In the future you may find it a good practice to book rooms on line, to print copies of your reservations, and to carry the reservations with you when you travel.

Absolutely serious!

If I could talk with stimps, I could ascertain what the logical argument would be, but since I can't it will be up to him or her to figure it out.

I made the suggestion because stimps seems to be strapped for cash and less able to take a loss than a hotel.

Were it me, I would chalk my ineptitude in booking a room up to a good lesson from the school of hard knocks and pay up if my credit card were charged. I would then book rooms on the internet, as I described earlier. But that's just me.

Not only is the hotel missing but three reataurants were reported MIA in Chinatowwn as well today.
