Help-best kuaui deals
I am trying to plan a vacation for my boyfriend and I. We plan to go to Kuaui mid-January. He's a law student so budget is a little tight. I would like to stay in a somewhat nice place, but can't afford too much. (200 a night is pushing it). We're planning to go for 7 days. Does anyone have reccommendations on getting the best deals? I would like a hotel, since he and I don't plan on cooking..with great views and near a nice beach (that we can have cocktails while we're laying out).
Also, if anyone has ideas for the week? What are the best things to do in Kuaui? I would like to go hiking (but not too difficult, steep hill-hikes),
sight-seeing, eating, exploring, snorkeling, and any hidden secrets that anyone can share?
I'm also considering splitting the vacation to Maui, as well. Wasn't sure the cost and most affordable way to island hop.
Thanks for your feedback!!!

Wow, Kauai in high season, Jan, in a hotel on the beach with great views for $200 max per night! Tall order there.
Try Islander on the Beach. It gets good reviews here. It's in Kapaa.
Also on the ocean is Courtyard Marriott at Waipoli Beach.

To stay within your budget, look at hotels on the windward side of our island -- Kapa`a, Waipouli, etc. There are links to all of them on this page (right side of map):

You might try VRBO, look for a cute cottage near the beach or even up in the foothills. When we lived on Kauai (2 yrs ago) we rented out our darling guest house with private yard for $65 a night! There must still be other places like that!
