Hawaii in April: Which Resort?
Having never been to Hawaii in April, I'm a little concerned about the weather. I'm going to be in Lanai for three nights (manele bay) and need a Starwood property for the other five.
I love Princeville, but am concerned about the rain. Never been to Kapalua Bay Hotel, but also heard about rain. Westin Maui was fun for daughter (5), but a little too urban for me. W in Diamondhead is out.
How's Sheraton on Black Beach? Any others?
Thanks.

PS. We sorta like to veg out in Hawaii, so activities aren't a priority.

Have been to Maui twice and both times we stayed on the south part of the island. When it's raining everywhere else the sun is always shining in Kihei. It's much quieter than Kaanapali and mostly all condos, not big hotels. Further south and east leads you toward Makena and along the the way are some of the nicest hotels but they are more secluded (Prince, Stouffers, Intercontinental etc).

When in April are you going? Your chances of rain diminish so significantly from the beginning to the end of the month. I have been to the Princeville twice in late April and have had no rain problems whatsoever. One early morning shower that ended by 8 or 9, and perhaps some overnight showers (or just over zealous watering by the hotel).
Unfortunately the Orchid is now a Fairmont property, if not, that would have been a good second choice. Unless you want to go to Oahu, which doesnot seem likely given that the Westin is too urban, Kapalua would be a distant second to Princeville (alhtough I think the Royal Hawaiian is just great).
