thanks Odin. Maui for a first visit to Hawaii sounds like a good idea. Do you know of any nice condos there? I'm going to look at the vrbo site.

If you want two islands both with some nightlife I really think Waikiki on Oahu and Lahaina on Maui make a great trip.

Hi Suze, I'm now trying to find nice accommodation in Maui. If you've stayed in a nice condo or resort can you give me any recommendations. I was looking at Poipu Kapili in Kauai, which looked great. Is there an equivalent in Maui?

I'm sorry I don't have a suggestion or know the places you are looking at.

I was only on Maui one trip with my family. My parents arranged it. We stayed at Lahaina Shores hotel. It worked well for our group but I would not necessarily recommend it to others. It was very nice and serviceable. We mostly liked it because it was right in Lahaina so people could go out on their own w/out getting in the rental car.

Maybe I'm wrong but I never associated Kauai as having a decent "nightlife" which you asked about.
