What's the best time of year to go to the HAWAII Islands, and why? Thanks!

Best time may vary depending upon what you are going to do there, IMHO.

Do you mean best prices (low season)? $)
Or;
Best waves for surfing (winter),
Best time for whalewatching (winter),
Calmest water for boating (summer),

or best time for free entertainment? Sept-Aloha festivals
or best time to get a tan and have people at home notice? winter!

I have that same "best time" question. We want to do just Kauia and the main thing we want to do is hike and snorkel. Our big anniversary is in December, but we'd definitely put off the trip if that was a not-so-hot time to go (e.g. winds too rough or too much rain to make snorkeling pleasant). Thing is-- spring and summer isn't a good time for us bec we live on the Chesapeake Bay and we love it here in the spring and summer and fall (no snorkeling however!) In short, best on our calendar would be Dec-Feb--- but I'm not sure what the "normal" weather is at that time. (And I know that Kauia weather is diff depending on what part of the isalnd one is on). Suggestions much appreciated (also for a "luxury" hotel or condo in Kauai)

There are no bad times to go. Select the time that you want to get away and simply go then. Yes the Hawaiian "winter" does tend to have more rain, but it's still sunny most of the time, and warm all of the time (though the evenings can be a bit cool - mainly because of the constant trade winds). South shore of Kauai is driest/warmest during the winter months.

I'd lean towards February, as I recall a past roughDecember, though booking reward travel around President's days can be challenging as well.

You should call the Governor first to make sure they are open.
We went one year when they were all closed for maintenance.


We go Dec/Jan when it's cold and rainy in NorCal. Hi season, though, so you may pay a bit more.

If you want to see whales in Maui, your best months are January-February. The water is a few degrees colder in the winter, of course, and you have a better chance of rain then. But there's absolutely nothing like watching those whales breach!
