It is Longtail that is deciding on a B& B, not me.

OSB:

We just booked a room at The Waterfalls Inn in Hilo after a recommendation on this forum and seeing outstanding reviews on tripadvisor. It looks like a great place! Thanks for asking.

Rather than sites like travelocity, vitruso, and orbitz, has anyone tried dealing directly with Hawaii travel websites for interisland travel?

Booking airfare from the Continental US to Hawaii can be done almost anywhere, but there are Hawaii based travel agency websites that offer interisland packages (interisland airfare, room, and car rental) that a lot of the time, mainland companies can't compete with. This is because these pre-negotiated packages are offered only to Hawaii based agencies.

It might be worth the time to look into.

Always worth a phone call dizzy. My experience though is usually the special rates also call for Hawaii state residency. Does not mean that agents could change this policy always worth a phone call.

longtail...looks like you have it worked out.....just a couple notes:

1. Yes, airfare is being booked early this year for some reason. I just went thru booking for next april. (used local hawaiian agent) and travel to hawaii is up....alot of the discounted tickets are SOLD., and yes it seems like the fares change daily.

2. You will enjoy the Hilo side....it's only a couple hour drive to the other side....no big deal....but staying around Hilo for a couple days will make it easier to see the sights.

enjoy your trip...sounds like you have done your homework.

Hawaii....it's all good
