Have you seen "KA" at MGM in Las Vegas?

A recent review of "KA" in Time magazine piqued my interest in this show. We are Cirque fans, "O" being our favorite so far. If you have seen "KA", could you give us your opinion please?

We're going to see it the first week in March so I'll post back. The Chicago Tribune had an article on Vegas being the new Broadway last Sunday and specifically discussed KA in a very positive way. You may want to check that article out.

Hi Maggi, Do a search for "Review of Ka" and there are 2 good ones in that thread, one by one of the editors of Fodors and another very detailed one..

Thanks swalter518, I'll be looking for your post. Wednesday, "Review of Ka" on Google did not bring up what I was looking for. Trip Advisor reviews were divided between raves and pans. I prefer the advice of my Fodor's friends.

Hi Maggi.

'Ka' was very good. I think you will enjoy it. I'm pasting most of my original 'Ka' review into this message.

I saw 'Ka' in December while it was still in previews, so it may have changed a little between the time I saw and the time you saw it. It is officially open now so things really shouldn't change from here on out.
'Ka' is a bit of a departure from the typical Cirque show. They have focused less on the acrobatics (although the feats are still a big part of the show) and concentrated more on a coherent story. The production was very operatic. I was able to follow it and understand the journey, but I was also aware of the story before seeing the show. The twins are separated during an attack in the very beginning. An evil group takes one of the twins. That twin eventually escapes and the show follows the life and journey of both twins back to each other.

Even though the production was operatic, the music was not as memorable as that of the other Cirque shows. It was OK, but not great. The stage and the staging were incredible. You need to be at the theater at least 15 minutes before the show in order to get the full experience and see the characters running and flying from the catwalks which surround the audience. The preshow announcement was very well done. Nothing was spoken. It was acted out by a few of the characters on the railing at the front of the stage. I was disappointed that the surround staging was lost once the actual show started. Speaking of surround ... did you notice the speaker in the headrest of your seat? I did find myself paying more attention to the technical elements than the story from time to time, but I think that is true of all the Cirque shows. Part of the spectacle is the use of technology.

Thanks, manduss, I appreciate your reply. Experience has taught us to get to the Cirque shows earlier. Something usually happens in the audience before showtime.

All of a sudden, a "ka" search brings up some reviews. Don't know what was wrong the other day. The board gremlins were at it, I guess.
