This summer we saw Lorrie Morgan and her boyfriend (another country singer- I forget his name Sawyer Brown maybe?). They were at the same resort we were. Lorrie has a figure like a Barbie doll. I've never seen such a tiny waist. Everyone up in the condo units were looking out their windows at them. I felt sorry for their lack of privacy. I've also met Charlie Daniels. He is nice. Once I shared an elevator with Dick Button, Peggy Fleming and Michele Kwan.

My understanding that Lorrie Morgan had two ribs removed;hence the tiny waist. I love her, she's great. She's on her 3rd or 4th marriage, but she looks great and is a sweet lady.

I have run into far too many celebrities, worked for and traveled with them. Blagh!

Hi I grew up on Cape Cod, right where the boats go to the Vineyard and Nantucket.... Needless to say ... lots of famous folks... I sold a "Wooden Boat" magazine to James Taylor once, for him to read (I assume) on the boat to the Vineyard. I waited on Ric Okasek (the 80s rock group The Cars...) and his (model) wife, Paulina Porzikova, in a restaurant. I saw the guy who played Norm on CHEERS, too. When I Was in High School, I was an extra in a movie (filmed "on the Cape" ) starring John Cusak and Demi Moore...John Cusak wasn't a big star then and was SOOOO very nice. Demi Moore was pleasant, but not too friendly... Here in Portland, Or. where I live now... I had dinner in the same Restaurant with Art Alexakis (from the band, EVERCLEAR) and I've run into (EWWWW!!!!) Tanya Harding a few times...

Christie Brinkley, Billy Joel, and their daughter Alexa were staying at same resort we were in Connecticut back in summer of 1993 -- when they were still married, of course. We were "this close" to them in the hallway of the hotel. Billy's yacht (forget the name) was in the resort's marina. Billy was even shorter than I thought and dressed in black from head to toe. He was being interviewed by VH-1. Christie was beautiful, of course, wearing a casual sundress, and with her hair long and straight. She was also shorter than I had imagined.

I've run into a lot of celebrities over the years, but this was my favorite: for my ex-spouse's birthday, I scalped front-row seats to Sting. Morgan Freeman was sitting directly behind me. As a result, my poor wife was so distracted, she missed much of the show. Gary Busey was in the same row, but for some reason he kept running into the bathroom.

One more: during my tour of New York City, I was on my way back to my humble room at the Mayflower when I looked up to see Stevie Wonder being escorted down the steps of Trump Plaza. I almost genuflected, but I was too chicken to say hello. I regret that.

Okay, one more:

I forgot to mention one of the most famous people I ever met. Evel Knievel. My friend who owns a limo called me one night and told me he had picked Evel up at the airport and they were hanging out at the local neighborhood bar. So I went up there and sure enough, he was there with his gold glasses with neck chain. He was friendly in a regular sort of way, I didn't feel like I was talking to a celeb. We talked about my job and all his broken bones and he asked me to go out riding around with them in the limo. I was so totally not interested and one of my girlfriends ended up going with them and Evel gave her an evening dress and one of his paintings! I went home early because it was rather depressing to be hit on by him for some reason. After I thought about it the next day, it hit me just how famous he really is. He was my little sister's hero back in the 70's. Everyone knows who Evel Knievel is. Hmmm....

I ran into Bruce Springsteen on the beach in Carmel California. That was a thrill!! He was a quiet, humble individual. Last year we found ourselves standing next to Sean Penn at a Sheryl Crow concert in San Fransicso. He had a very "celebrity" attitude. Loved being noticed but didn't want to be approached.

Well I work for a major airline I wont say who, we are not very popular right now, guess who??? Well I have meet many Steven Segall, Arron Neville (sp?), many sports stars, but the two best by far was a very kind gentleman who was traveling to Las vegas and when I told him that it was an honor to meet him he had given me a kiss on the cheek, Mr. Mohammad Ali that was such a thrill he was so kind. The biggest thrill going back to my school girl days, I was told as manager of the area that there was a passenger on the aircraft coming in from Atlanta that was not feeling well so I needed to meet that plane and see of there was something that I could do for him and that I would know who it was when the plane lands at the airport low and behold it was Ringo Starr. And he called me Lovie well that just blew me away!!!!!

Many years ago I was picked out of a big mob of "Kennedy Girls" to be a stand in for John F. Kennedy at the Mich. State Fairgrounds. Later I was close enough to touch him but didnt as the "K Girls" were supposed to keep the crowds in check. When I went to see JKF's grave, Tipper Gore and two of her daughters were there with some friends. Even though it was only them and my friend on the site, the Secret Service men were so numerous and intimidating I didn't approach her. Also say Elton John at Eaton Center in Toronto having coffee, and Brian Donlevy at a play in Stratford, Ont. Nothing would compare, though, to meeting up with Bruce Springsteen somewhere. I've tried but never got closer than the concert catering service.

I agree...meeting Bruce (the Boss) was the best!!! No one else could come close. Unless, of course, it was one of the Beatles.

In school, I dated someone who was a good friend of a Nascar racer, Ward Burton. At the time Ward was pretty young, maybe 18 and I did not care for him at all. He was wild - drinking, smoking, doing a lot of everything else to excess and driving like a maniac. Unfortunately, we stayed in Halifax, Va. alot and Ward was always there. It was partly due to him that I broke up with my boyfriend - I couldn't stand being around him. To this day, I remember one inane thing he would say "H@##, fightin' ain't nothin but a THING!" Typical. Hopefully he grew up!

A few years ago, Lauren Hutton was checking in at a small hotel in Crystal River, Florida, as I was checking out. The 20-something year old desk clerk had no idea that the person checking in was famous. Ms. Hutton was in jeans, had no entourage, and was carrying her own bags. She looked beautiful, very natural looking, and was very nice.

Great thread! Such interesting comments.

I think it was five years ago... my wife and I were at Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys, which draws its share of celebrities. There was a young couple - newlyweds - who spent most of their time on the beach. We chatted with them occasionally either on the beach or in the restaurant.

On the third day of our stay, all hell broke loose. Suddenly, there were helicopters circling the island, jet skis making kamikaze runs at the beach, and the staff going crazy. A seaplane landed just off shore, and the young couple made a dash for it, shielded by hotel staff holding sheets to block the view from the circling helicopters. When the seaplane was finally airborne, we asked what event could have caused such a commotion.

The hotel staffer looked at us like the ignorant idiots we were: "You didn't know that was Luke Perry? This was their secret honeymoon site."

Forgot to mention -- I saw Connie Chung in the ladies room of a federal building here in Washington DC a few years ago. She was by herself, wearing a long black leather coat, and had on more makeup than I've ever seen on any human being in my life, and was putting on even more.

Also saw Jennie Garth (from "Beverly Hills 90210") here in Washington once. She looked very cute and petite, but heavier than she looked in TV (seems like it's usually the opposite).

Met Garrison Keillor at an event here in Washington -- a lovely man, with a few unusual mannerisms, but still, just radiates kindness.

Have seen more politicians here in Washington than I could shake a stick at, but they probably don't really count as celebrities -- former surgeon general C. Everett Koop (very distinguished-looking), Janet Reno (grandmotherly and very kind), George Stephanopoulos (at movies, restaurants, the gym, coffee places, you name it -- he was ubiquitous before he moved to NYC, and couldn't be cuter), Ralph Nader (always see him walking down the street by himself, and he always says hi to anyone who says hello to him).

When we were vacationing on the Big Island this summer, one son declined to tour the volcano with us. He knew he'd made the "right" choice, when he found himself sitting near the young actor (boy) from Sixth Sense. He left him alone so he could eat in peace, but had his identification confirmed by several older women who approached him.
