Has anyone visited the Empire State Building since Sep 17?
Hi, I have visitors in town (NY) this week and they want to go up to the ESB. In the past few years I've found the lines to be really long even with pre-bought internet tickets, but am thinking maybe the lines are shorter now since back to school as I seem to have noticed a drop in tourists in the city this past week. Can anyone who's been up there very recently give me a rough time estimate of the line to go up top?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's open longer hours (something like 2 am) and there's now a fast pass (pricey, but an option). Best time to go if when everyone is doing something else. But I guess you know many prefer the whole experience at Top of the Rock? There are some small discounts available on broadwaybox.com and seasonofsavings.com for TOTR.

We paid for the "fastpass" option for the ESB. We were able to walk past the line (about a 2 hour wait) and took the next elevator up. We also bypassed the line on the way down. We thought the extra $$ was worth it.

You'll probably have no wait at all for the Top of the Rock. During the day, you'll get a great view of Central Park, and at night it's the Empire State Building that'll dazzle you. Obviously, one advantage of TOTR over ESB is that you can see the latter from the former! So, naturally, the best time to go to TOTR is just before or at dusk.
