If so, do you know which downtown hotels would be considered 4-star? I've not used Priceline before, and thought this might be the time to use it...

The best place to learn what people have won on PL, and also to learn bidding strategies, etc., are the two web sites dedicated to this issue: Betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com.

Gypsy, for the life of me I could not remember the name of the nice hotel in downtown Boise, but rkwan has it. The Grove is very attractive and as near as I can tell the only property in its class. When I went to Boise on business a year ago, my client set me up in a chain hotel out near the airport. It was very nice and clean; but, characterless. Go for the Grove. There are some lovely restaurants and shops within walking distance and the Sat am market is high quality. Also take a trip over to the university area, interesting place.
