Has anyone stayed at the MIrage in LV lately?

A group of us are going in April, and trying to decide where to stay. We have stayed at Monte Carlo, Bellagio, and the Wynn, but never at the Mirage. The pool area looks great.

The Mirage pool area is lovely, very tropical (Caribbean-Hawaii-ish) looking. We stay at the Mirage often. It is not in the same category as Bellagio or Wynn's so don't expect that. I think it is better then Monte Carlo tho.

Standard rooms at the Mirage are good sized but the bathrooms are small. This does not bother us, but many people have a fit over it if you read tripadvisor.com reviews. There is a nice vanity area outside the bathroom. Rooms all have an in-room safe (which Monte Carlo does not have). The Mirage is starting to update/remodel the rooms but it will take some time before all are done. (If you want a middle of the road kind of price and a remodeled room try T.I. -- their rooms are smaller then Mirage's but they are really pretty, have flat screen t.v.'s, and the beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in). Incidentally, the bathrooms at TI are larger then those at the Mirage.

Since you have been to Vegas before I will not go into the pros and cons of location, etc. The Mirage is very handy to most everything we have found, that is why we like it.

My husband and I stayed at the Mirage last June. (2006) We loved the pool area. We did check out some others that were recommended like the Flamingo, Monte Carlo but none compared to the Mirage. It is fabulous if a pool is important to you this is a great choice. The rooms were adequate, comfortable, bathrooms are small but that is a total non issue to me. I woudn't pay extra for that volcano room-view for to me, in my opinion is very silly. It didn't do much for me. It was not a wow-factor at all. Of course the Wynn and Bellagio are not in the same league as the Mirage but a good value for the money.

Thank you for your replies. I admit we have been spoiled at the Wynn and the Bellagio. But the minimum bets at them are high. We are thinking our gambling money will go further at the Mirage, and the pool area looks great.

Plus, we are planning to see "Love", which is there. How are the restaurants at the Mirage?

We saw LOVE when it first opened while we were at the Mirage. It was GREAT!! The Mirage have the best hamburgers I ever tasted. There is only one restaurant I ate at, it was just sandwhiches, etc. but it was very good. There were to many others in LV. I forgot the name but I believe it had the word "california." We didn't even eat breakfast there for there is a Dennys across the street. We went there or had coffee/danish in the coffee shops at the Mirage.

Broadwaybox.com/lasvegas has Mirage deals that are worth checking out. The current one expires at late March, so look for a new one, even after you book. Enjoy!

I have seen Love twice, once with friends and we sat a couple of rows from the stage, the second time we sat in the high up (cheap) seats. Guess what was way better ??? The show was much more enjoyable from a higher vantage point, this is one time when I think they should charge less for close up Anyway, I am sure you will enjoy it, it's alot of fun and the Beatles music is great.

The Mirage has quite a few places to eat, take a look at their website for a complete list. We normally have breakfast at the Caribe Cafe (24 hr coffee shop). There is also the Paradise Cafe next to the pool for breakfast/lunch (when the pool is open). California Pizza Kitchen is up front, personally I find it noisy and smokey, but it is always crowded. Samba, the Brazilian restaurant, is good, lots and lots of food !! We never do buffets (lets face it, I can serve myself at home) so I am no expert on the Mirage buffet, or any other. For a quick snack the Roasted Bean (two of them, one near north entrance, the other in the back) offer coffee/snacks/pastries/sandwiches. There is also an ice cream shop if you are in the mood for that.

We have stayed in many different sections of the hotel, I am not fond of the volcano view actually and never pay extra for it. Personally, I prefer the pool or city/mountain views. Maybe if you have never been to Vegas a Strip view is ok, but once you have seen it, you've seen it

It's easy to get to other hotels to go to eat tho, so I don't find that any problem.

Yes that is right the tickets up higher for the Beatles show LOVE are better. Not sure what we paid, can't remember that either, but they were good. Very good seats. Not sure if that was the name california pizza but I have heard the Brazilian steakhouse is good. There is also a free monorail to the hotel next door. (Treasure Island.) Mystere is there and we also saw that show and had dinner at TI.

I love Mirage. You can't beat the location, the pool area is lovely, the rooms are comfortable and not ridiculously over-the-top (sorry, I don't need to land an aircraft carrier in my hotel room, just sleep, change and occasionally build a play fortress out of sofa cushions).

I've never understood how anyone could say the bathrooms at Mirage are "small". Does every fata$$ in the world need a 600 square-foot john? Come on now. Every room I've had at Mirage has had a LARGE bathroom. Not the ludicrous 500 square-foot temples to luxury at the JW Marriott, but a perfect size for a couple on vacation.

The onsite eateries are good-- I especially love Samba (caipirinhas and Brazilian churrasco!). The buffet is fine, but not the best on the Strip (see Bellagio or Wynn or maybe Paris). The coffee shop can't be beat, however.

Mirage is a step down in Dionysian luxury from Bellagio or Wynn, no question. But you won't be slumming by any means. It's a great resort.

I agree about the Mirage bathrooms, rjw, they work fine for us too, however it never ceases to amaze me the number of complaints I read about them on tripadvisor.com. I guess if you want large bathrooms go to the Bellagio (altho I really did not like the design of theirs). For large and nice design I liked the Aladdin .. their tubs are like small swimming pools.

Whatever chicgeek decides on, if they have stayed at the Bellagio & Wynn's they my find "coming down a notch or two" rough. The Mirage is great but it is not in that league.

Just got back from the Mirage and I was really impressed. The food was great, the scenary in the lobby was gorgeous and location was ideal! The only other place I've seen to compare is the Venetian right across the street. The rooms are all suites for $20-$30 more. So if you're looking for more space, the Venetian is an ideal place in the same location.
