Harvard Square Hotel

Can anyone give me a quick review of this place?

I stayed at the Charles Hotel recently for work & loved the area -- but now that I am going back personally I simply can't afford it.

The Harvard Square seems to be very close (across the street?) and I want to see if it's nice.

I've heard that it's "a good value" but "lacking in amenities...just a place to sleep". Parking is $30 extra I think. Great location as you know.

See what kind of a rate you can get at HotelatMit.com.....it's very nice and about a mile away, very convenient to walking/restaurants/transportation.

Tracys2cents,
Thanks for the MIT hotel idea. I have a kid wanting to check out schools out east so I checked on that hotel by Hilton. Sounds cool but it was $249 for one night! Now I know I can't afford schools out there!

Yikes I've never seen it that high, in fact we used to get it on weekends for $129......but Hilton wasn't involved with it until recently....I guess they have to keep Paris Hilton in jewels!

Try the Cambridge Hyatt Regency. It is on Memorial Drive - on the Charles River. Sometimes they have deals. Also, on the other side of the river, on the Harvard Law School side, the DoubleTree Guest Suites hotel - nice and just a short walk over the bridge to Harvard Square. It is on the Boston side of the river.

the T gets you around quite well so you don' have to stay right there. If you want economy, we just got back from boston stayed at the holiday inn somerville, which is next to cambridge the rate was 141 a night. if you can plead business travel and get that rate it was 118. the T is about 2 blocks from the hotel. free parking. duncan donuts for real coffee (although not my fav) across the street and up the block a bit.
