Harrah's Hotel and Casino

Staying at Harrah's in Las Vegas first week in September. Got a deal for $30 a night. Anyone stayed there recently? What casino has the loosest slots? Where is the best place to play blackjack? What show is a "don't miss"? Any help you can give is appreciated!

Best odds are far away from the strip at the small casinos catering to locals.
Best shows are "O" and Mystere. Call for tickets 30 days in advance to get good seats. "O" tickets are $110.
All the good Vegas shows are now $80-$110.
Vegas was cheap entertainment 15 years ago, $1.99 buffets, 25 cent Heinekens. Not any more. You have to look hard for the cheap deals. The good buffets are $27 and the best hotels are up to $400 a night on busy weekends.

At Harrahs you are at an excellent location and the price you got is great! There are plenty of places to check out since you are at center-Strip. I recommend Mystere at Treasure Island -- a superb show not to be missed. O is at Bellagio and more expensive and tickets will be harder to get. Danny Gans at Mirage is a good show too. Stay away from the BJ tables that pay 6-5 on blackjack. They are new and much worse than the 3-2 payout.

KADEE,

MY WIFE AND I HAVE STAYED AT NY NY AND HARRAHS BOTH IN RENO AND VEGAS AND THEY WERE GREAT YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL. DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE CHEAPOS THAT WHINE ABOUT 10-15 BUFFETS. IF THEY CANNOT AFFORD THAT THEN THEY SHOULD STAY AT HOME. GO SPEND MONEY AND HAVE A GREAT DAY BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TOMORROW WILL BRING LIVE FOR THE
PRESENT AND THE PAST IS JUST THAT.

Harrahs is my choice - very central to everything and a friendly hotel.I usually stop over in LV on my way home from Europe and opt for Harrahs every time. Have stayed at others but they are not as convenient and much more pricey. Have a great time. I am quite envious.

Gee, Howard, I will have a hard time feeling sorry for someone like you when/if you hit 65 years old and have no funds for your retirement....especially if you live to be 90.
The percentage of adultsover 50 with terribly inadequate savings is a scary thing.
Who is going to support all those people when they're no longer 'productive'?

Vacations are great for relieving stress and 'enjoying the journey'.
But making the live for today thing your whole life's focus is a disastrous strategy if you and the world survive a long time.

Thank goodness people with philosophies like Howard and xxx aren't in charge of things.
This country would have never become what it did without vision, planning, discipline and deferred gratification.

I think it's quite obvious that the 1960's philosophy of live for today for tomorrow we die proved an utter failure.

(Now if you're a front lines soldier, that's another thing entirely. That kind of thinking can be helpful to get you thru some tough times. But that's a rare exception).

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARENT AWARE WE PAY TAXES ALSO SO YOU DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR ME YOU WANT TO BE CONTRUCTIVE SERVE YOUR COUNTRY INSTEAD OF FINDING WAYS FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY YOUR WAY FOR EVERYTHING. I AM PROUD TO HAVE SERVED SO YOU WOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOICE YOUR IGNORANT OPINIONS WITHOUT FEAR OF JAIL TIME. THIS WILL BE, AND I AM SURE MOST OF YOU WILL BE HAPPY MY LAST RESPONSE, YOU MISSED THE WHOLE PICTURE, WHAT I MEANT WAS, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DID NOT GET IT, WAS TO ENJOY YOURSELF AND IF YOU CAN ONLY AFFORD A $1.99 BUFFET THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR VACATION. THERE ARE TO MANY PEOPLE THAT ALWAYS WANT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. GET A LIFE A**H***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Howie,

Quite SHOUTING! Turn off your damn caps lock. You're killing my ears. And mix in a few punctuations...this isn't Morse Code.

Howard, you may not know this but it's considered very rude to post in ALL CAPS on the Internet. If your typing is that bad, do it in all lower case rather than CAPS!

When we went to Vegas last year we tried various places for buffets and I reckon that Harrah's was the best value for money.

Have a lovely time.

Harrah's is a great location. It's a little older but still a nice place to stay. According to Casino Player magazine, it is one of the "luckiest" casinos in Las Vegas and I tend to agree, since we have done better there than any other casino in over 15 trips to Las Vegas.
As far as shows, Danny Gans is my very favorite!!

"...According to Casino Player magazine, it (Harrah's) is one of the "luckiest" casinos in Las Vegas".

Now that one made me laugh.

1) Casino Player magazine is in business to draw gamblers to LV and is paid consideration by the casinos themselves (completely biased 'reporting'. I take that back, reporting is too generous a term. This is actually just advertising).

2) You can read for yourself what the monthly payouts are from each casino, broken down by slot machine type, etc.
Harrah's is not on average "luckier" than Monte Carlo or Luxor or any other midsize strip casino.

3) Table game odds are the same at EVERY casino, save for some of the subtle blackjack variations based on number of decks, hitting rules, etc (<1% payout diffference).

4) Gambling odds are such that any one gambler would never be able to tell whether the payouts on the slots (which can be adjusted by the casinos)are better at one casino vs another. You'd have to gamble non-stop for days to be able to clearly see the 1-3% differences among the casinos.

5) There is no such thing as 'luck'. Only odds. You can read up on the odds of every game in LV and learn the payout settings on the slots at all the different casinos. But if you win, it's simply random chance and odds. It doesn't mean you're 'lucky'.

I'm new to reviewing the postings, but I thought this site was supposed to help others, not berate and degrade them?
