Hard Shell Crabs Lansing MI

I am spending a year in Lansing MI, and me and my girlfriend are looking for a place to buy either live or cooked Hardshell Crabs. We are of course from Maryland and can't find anywhere. Any Help, Anywhere near Lansing.

I can't think of any good seafood shops in Lansing. However, if you don't have any luck, try calling Monahan's Seafood in Ann Arbor. They are an excellent seafood shop and might have what you're looking for. (I spent 9 years at MSU, but for 4 of those I lived in AA. However, I left AA in 2002 and am now in NJ, so my recollection is a bit fuzzy.)

Good luck,
Paul

Hmm...although Michigan is hardly landlocked, we are highly crab-deficient.

There is an supposedly awesome fish market in Royal Oak, which is a Detroit suburb. It would be about an hour and a half drive. You can try them:

It is where everyone goes to buy the octopi they toss on the ice during Red Wing playoff games.

I think you'd better just develop a taste for Lake Superior Whitefish. Here is an amazing local whitefish chain. Their batter is very light:

Oh, and there is a good place in a little strip mall in Auburn Hills. Again a good hour and a half drive. It would be fun to combine a trip there with a Pistons game come fall.

Thanks for all the help. Being from Baltimore there is a crab house on every corner, just feels odd with not one in all of Lansing.

It may be a bit more expensive, but do any of the places you know of in Baltimore ship Blue crab to anywhere in the US? Here is a link to some crab houses, with phone numbers, in MD: http://www.bluecrab.info/crabhouses.htm
