Happy Talk Lounge, Princeville
My original thought was to stop by the new St Regis for drinks & pupus when I am on Kauai next month. I've been there a couple of times in the past and wanted to see the new decor. HOWEVER.... I read a report that says valet parking just to visit is $16 (plus tip), drinks are $16 and beer is $8. My revised thought is to go to the Happy Talk Lounge at Hanalei Bay Resort instead. Is there a view? Nice atmosphere? I called and there is no charge for parking.

I was at the St. Regis when in Kauai last week. We went for lunch. Valet parking at that time was free. We gave a tip to the driver when we left. Go to the St. Regis even if it is to only have a soda. You will not be disappointed.

As reported in T.R. a few weeks ago, enjoyed a visit to the Happy
Talk Lounge while staying at HBR offering stunning
Bali Hai
Mountain Views. Happy Talk now hosts live
entertainment on some nights. Regis was not open yet during our visit but also has excellent views, though heard that the seafood buffet night is history. Link to T.R.:

Yes, it is closed. Bali Hai Restaurant also closed. We went there last week in hopes of drinks & pupus after a day in Hanalei and beyond. However, the St Regis is worth the $15 drinks to sit by the pool and view the water/beach, etc.
Valet is free--just whatever you tip.
