STW--Just got out from under the leftovers to read your note (not really, they're still piled up in the frig and freezer)....

We had apples and honey, of course, but also made matzoh ball soup, my SIL made chopped liver, my BIL's challahs (he's a professional baker), brisket w/roasted potatoes, Chicken Marbella (recipe from Silver Palette Cookbook), apple kugel, green beans almondine...and then dessert. I didn't bake (another SIL did that) My SIL made an unbelievably outrageous German apple cake--not at all dry--plus a Lintzer Torte (sp?) that was fabulous...and a friend made homemade banana pudding w/Nilla wafers cuz I love that! I threw together a fruit platter and that finished up the eating orgy! Waay, waaay too much food! We had to roll everyone out the door at the end and DH and I needed a forklift to make it upstairs

(I have to say my favorite part of the meal was dessert. It's always my favorite part of any meal but my SIL can bake!!)

OWJ....Oh....my....goodness....

You had all of that wonderful food and you didn't invite me?!?

Please share with me your recipe for matzoh ball soup. Our last trip to NYC I was a bit under the weather and I walked in circles trying to figure out where I could get a bowl of matzoh ball soup (can you believe I didn't do my research???). Anyway, I want to try and make it myself.

I must admit, while I like dessert, I would much prefer eating brisket, lol.

So glad you had a wonderful holiday

(whispering) I'll pick you up at the airport. Plenty of room in my van for others you may want to join for a ride up to OWJ's.

OWJ, please do not read the following.

Great idea, stw. In fact, let's plan a surprise Fodor's GTG at OWJ's house next year!! She'll have plenty of food ready, and this will be a lot more economical than going to a restaurant. Remember everyone, don't tell her.

You people are sick, sick, sick!! Hehehe

You are all welcome to come for dinner. Might have to bring your own folding chairs though

But please, no surprises. What if the house wasn't perfect when you arrived and my hair was doing what it is now?!!!(think Medusa!)

Hey OWJ,
I made Chicken Marbella too! I've made it for Passover too and now it's become part of the family tradition, side by side with the brisket.
Happy New Year to everyone -- wishing you all peace and joy.

I got plenty of folding chairs!

Okay folks, let me know your ETA's and I'll pick up up at Hartsfield - chairs packed in the back of the van!

Can't do matzo ball soup - but I'll pick up a big to-go tub of Italian soup from Tony and Maria's!

See y'all next year!

Well OWJ, if the house is not perfect and your hair looks like Medusa, then we will have succeeded in surprising you. I promise not to take pictures and post them for all to see....heeheeheehee....
