Ezway,
Good question--it made me think. One difference I can see in the US versus other 'free' countries--the men and women who started this country did so at great personal sacrifice. They CHOSE to come here and their pioneer spirit still runs through the veins of every red-blooded American, whether your ancestral homeland was Europe, Asia, Africa, etc. My grandparents were Russian-German immigrants who came through Ellis Island in the early 1900's. I am so grateful that I was able to hear their story before they died. What they went through to get here and then make a living is incredible. They raised their 7 children to love their country and several of them fought in world wars. I am so proud to be a citizen of this great country and will never take it for granted again.
