Merci!

You should come to Washington one year to see the fireworks on July 4th!

Miriam, most Americans feel the same, but that's a politically incorrect comment to make to a foreigner.
America is reviled by many foreigners for what is perceived to be its arrogance and attitude of superiority.
Many people in other nations feel like their countries have no less to be proud of than Americans.
On the Fodor's Europe board this message comes thru loud and clear.

Merci,Alain! I've visited Paris several times and have really enjoyed it every time! Consider a visit to the Florida panhandle in the summer! All the beachside towns are filled with fun Southern Americans and,I for one feel the best beaches,in the USA are from Panama City Beach to Biloxi!

Merci beaucoup, Alain. What? You're visiting the US and not coming to San Francisco? Zut alors!

Well, we don't speak much, but she's softened her views considerably as she has become more refined with age.
Happens to the best of us.
Thanks for asking.

Thank you so much, Alain. My wife and I happened to be traveling in your beautiful country when the Iraq war started and honestly didn't know what to expect. As it turned out, we needn't have worried - we were warmly welcomed everywhere and will be returning next year, and I hope for many more years to come. I wish you an equally enjoyable visit in November.

Bonjour Alain!
Next time, save some room for jazz, barbeque and baseball - visit Kansas City! Happy 4th to you, as well!
