hambugers for $5.95 at Peter's Luger?!!

There are $50 and $40 hamburger sandwiches making the headlines recently so what is this I hear that the revered Peter Luger offers $5.95 hamburger sandwiches!! True? Has anyone out there tried this out yet? How big is the burger and more importantly is it any good?

Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Peter Luger's and have never eaten there, but I did read a review recently that mentioned that it's the CHEESEburger that's 5.95 - the hamburger is only 4.95! Can't be bad at that price.

yes, but fries are an extra $2.00 (!?!?)

Articles was also in NY Daily news this week (as well as the Times) and both mentioned that it's for lunch only, plus "even with a reservation, wait was about an hour"

I called for a dinner reservation on May 1 and was told there was nothing available between 4 pm and closing for the entire month. Guess you'd have to know when you expected to get a craving for a hamburger about two months ahead of time.
