Halloween Suggestions

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for
interesting and/or historic places for Halloween. We know about Salem's big happen-
ings and Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown's. Does anyone know of any other sites that would be good to spend 4-5 days. Thanks.

Brenda, you might try Key West if you are looking for a wild Halloween Party! Have not been there but saw a great show on the Travel Channel about the Key West Party. Perhaps someone else on this forum has been there......

Helen is right on the money! I have been there and it is great. Thugh it may be tough to get a room. I have friend who is going this year and she is finding rates of $150 - $400 per night per room with a 3 day minimum.

Gettysburg has lots of ghosts and they really decorate things up for Halloween. There are no places to stay in Salem that time of year although you might go anyway and stay in Rockport (nearby)

You might try Williamsburg, VA. They have a great candelite ghost tour of historic homes and properties. Not sure what other festivities go on on Halloween there.

Keene, New Hampshire, holds the Guinness record for its Pumpkin Festival's tower of carved pumpkins (lighted). It's extraordinary. I don't know where you are, but Keene is in the southwest corner of NH, near the Vermont border, not far from Rt. 91.

Does anyone recommend New Orleans for Halloween?

I don't know where you live, but Eureka Springs, Arkansas, has something that is pretty neat. You can stay at the Crescent Hotel, the over 100 year old hotel at the top of the hill in Eureka (look it up on the internet). They have a resident GHOST, with a ghost tour you can take, and a Halloween Costume Ball that night. Also in downtown Eureka there are Ghost Tours that you can take to find out about the local legends.
