Halloween Nights at Universal Studios Orlando- Is it worth the $?

We were thinking of going on 10/14 during a short stay in Orlando. I would like to find out what the key attractions/haunted houses not to miss things. Also, would like to know if it is worth the $ because it seems as if other posters have recommended highly the fast pass which adds substantially alot more to the ticketprice. Would love to hear anyone's advice. Thanks in advance!

Noelle,

I don't think you'll need to pay the extra for the "Express Pass" at that time of year. We went to Universal Studios on the Tuesday after Memorial Day and didn't need an express pass.

Or are you thinking that you want to use the express pass just for the "Halloween Nights" event? Those special events do get crowded and weekend events are more likely to have locals in the mix.

There is a separate express pass for the Halloween Horror Nights. It doesn get crowded, so go for the express.

Yes, I am interested in the express pass for the halloween shows at night only. We probably won't have time to make it to the park during the day. Is the halloween attraction worth it? Tripadvisor had some bad feedback regarding the halloween shows. I was interested in some fodor's feedback. Thanks

It's been four or five years since we went but we had a ball. I thought it was very crowded and we stood in lines probably an average of 15 minutes for each "haunted house". The special shows were kind of fun too. I understand it's now more crowded than it was then, but can't confirm it.

I've participated in a couple of charity haunted houses, so I really enjoyed seeing how it's done when there is big money for appropriate technical stuff to back it all up. Maybe all that would mean less to others. Yes, the whole thing is very "corny", but that was part of the fun.

We got there when it opened in the evening and stayed till closing, but pretty much did everything there was to do.

Of course, only you can say if $100 pp for a 5 1/2 hr event (w/express pass) is worth it.

I've paid that and more for some theatre/concert tickets in the past and enjoyed HHN just as much and even more than some of them.

What definitely is worth it is the express pass option as I have seen some wait times at 90 minutes.

We were there in '03 and were able to hit all houses and shows because we had express.

We're going again in a little less than three weeks. I don't know when you're leaving for Florida but I should be able to post a report by 10/9th.
