Universal Studios Florida
I am planning a trip to Universal Studios and Island Adventures in January 2012 during the weekdays. Will it be crowded to the point that the express line tickets will be necessary in order to enjoy all of the attractions on a 2 day pass or will it be less crowded because of the time of year?

If you stay at a property onsite - the express pass is free.

We stayed at Portofino a few years ago. Its OK - but worth it for the pass and you dont need a car. You can walk/boat/or pedi cab to the parks.
schmerl is right - January is slow season, especially if there is a cold front.
