Halibut fishing alaska

I have read that Homer and Seward have good halibut fishing. How does Whittier compare. We get off the cruise in Whittier and it is a lost closer to fish Whittier.

Homer is the "Halibut Fishing Capitol of the World".

Sounds like fun, but I wonder what you do with a 200 pound halibut after you catch it? What would the TSA say?

200 lbs. or more.

Seriously, the charter boats should have a fish processor with whom they work. They can clean, filet, flash freeze the fish and then arrange for overnight shipping (if you are returning to the lower 48).

If everyone in your party is going fishing, Whittier might be fine. If some are staying on shore to enjoy the town ... I would choose Homer or Seward. Whittier is a former secret military base.
