Gulf or Atlantic ?

Planning a trip to the Florida Keys. Should I seek a place to stay on the Gulf or the ocean side? Would appreciate info on reasonable accommadations, under 100/night. Looking for small place with a good view, pool and atmosphere and small beach. Anyone stayed at Crystal Bay, Pelican Cove or Continental Inn? Any info would be much appreciated.

I don't mean this rudely but you have received much info on your posts. Are you not reading them or maybe finding them. Just do a search.

Well it seems rude to me. I didn't know there was a limit as to what you could ask. Did it really cause you an inconvenience to read my message? I have not asked about which side to stay on nor had I asked about 2 of the locations I mentioned. I have searched constantly and if I had found the info I was seeking, I wouldn't have asked again. I thought this forum was to be helpful. There are so many nice people here and also a lot of jerks. Did it cost you anything to read my question? Why bother to respond if it was such a hardship for you. I am trying to plan a trip that is very important to me and hoping to catch the eye of someone who may have gone through the same thing who are willing to help me. I consistantly have got recommendations for places I am not willing to pay the rate for and would just like some reassurance on places that don't cost 150+ a night. So my suggestion to you is not to read my posts if they bother you so much. I planned a trip to California last year using this site and let me tell you the people out west were never rude to me or inconvenienced by my posts. Why do you read the questions on the site if duplication bothers you. I have not even mentioned Pelican Cove or Crystal Bay before!

Please don't get upset. You really have received a lot of info. I just thought maybe you hadn't seen them. There has been some problems over the last few weeks and sometimes for anyone who might be new they don't understand the search function.

Then you have my sincere apology. I may have over reacted but I see a lot of people being rude here and blowing people off and it doesn't make sense to me since the whole concept is to share info. I was already told once that I asked something on another post and I guess it just seemed like you were saying I was just posting for the sake of posting. I am truly sorry if those were not your intentions.

Gulf or ocean side? It doesn't really matter. But 100 dollars a night is on the very low end when it comes to room rates in the Florida Keys for everything you are wanting unless you are looking off season, then it is more low to mid range. With that in mind, you will get what you pay for.

Try the Key West Innkeepers Association. They helped me find a nice B&B for about $100/night. It was off season, though, and not on the beach. It had a beautiful pool area and was very small and private, which was what I wanted.

I agree with others that you will have a hard time finding all you want (pool, beach, atmosphere, and view) for under $100.

As for people being rude, I agree...

I'm so tired of asking a question, and having people reply- Search for hotels on this or that site. Go to www.floridakeys.com. Well no S#^&!

I come here to get personal opinions of hotels, restaurants, etc. Do you really think that someone comes here that is too stupid to think to go to flakeys.com (etc)

If You "keys connoisseurs" are really trying to help, give useful advice.

Some people do absolutly no work on their own and then ask very open questions. So pointing them to a web site is only trying to point out more information for them so they can limit their choices or things they prefer. Linda has been very specific and has been given much advice and ideas. Meetoo, I don't know what your question or point is but it is a waste of time.

I can assure all of you that I have researched extensively. I have sent for brouchers from each of the chambers in the keys, many motels and read messages on this board that go back two or three years!!!!! You people are constantly saying do a search. I search every word I can think of. If people don't use the name of a place in the topic, guess what!!!!!!! No amount of searching is going to turn up info on that particular place. What the heck is the crime in asking if someone has stayed in a particular place? I thought that is what this was all about. Seems to me there are some really nice people here that try their best to be helpful and there are some real snobs who just lay in wait for someone to ask a question that may have been discussed before and then call them names and try to make them fell stupid. Why do those kind of people even read posts? They must not have anything better to do or have any friends to talk to is the only thing I can figure out.
To those people who have given me information, THANK YOU! I really appreciate it tremendously. I am not an idiot and I do my research but I have been told more than a couple of times that you can't trust the motel pictures on the web sites. Well, aside from getting there and looking around myself, how am I supposed to get an unbiased opinion. Gee, I thought that was the purpose of this site. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PARTICIPATE, DON'T READ THE POSTS!!!!!!! You are not asked to critique them!
To those of you who say, put in a search, put in Gulf View Resort and see if you get anything. you won't but someone did mention it once so I went back and read every post until I found a reference to it. Now tell me what is wrong with asking about it at a later time in case someone else with experience happens to be checking the site.
I have learned a lot from the legitimate replies I have received and to those people THANK YOU very much. I am indebted to you all. For the complainers, I suggest you stay off the site because you really aren't nice helpful people and have no real purpose here.
