A16 gets a bomb on noise and Antica gets 4 bells - so neither of those is really quiet either.

I just looked over the Clementines' menu.

I'm vegetarian, so the dinners won't work for me, but I'd be quite happy to get the salad and dessert - I just don't want to irritate my fellow fodorites by eating mousse or apple tart if anyone is watching their weight...

I wasn't asking for train stations, easytraveler! (Or am I missing something here?!)

I actually am ok with driving myself & parking; I do it all the time. I'm a lousy driver, though, so I won't offer to pick up anybody -- unless, of course, the person is willing to risk his/her life.

toed, I'm not married to going to Clementine. Seriously, I don't even really care where we eat ... usually at things like this, the last thing I'm worried about is my food. ("Is my lipstick on my teeth?"... "Should I have said that?"... "Am I drinking too much wine?")

Hi Faina, I am awake!!! Thanks for thinking of my food allergies. I am sure I can work out ordering food at any restaurant Faina as long as it is not an Asian restaurant as I have checked and checked with so many of them in so many areas and they all use corn oil etc.

I am flexible. Since toedtoes is the one that is driving I will let her "vote" for the two of us.

Hey Faina, are you beginning to feel like you are herding cats, lol!

Thanks Lucie. I only mentioned my choice because I don't want my lifestyle choice to dictate where everyone eats.

I've been in settings where the menu choice didn't give me any options so I went with dessert and then had some folks irritated with me because I ate dessert in front of them while they were trying to watch their weight.

Sometimes it's hard not being an inconvenience to people.

But as long as there are good desserts, I'll go anywhere...

Oops, my mistake:

Moose is the dessert

Mousse is the animal singular

and

Meese is the animal plural.

Oh sure Love - leave it all on me!

So far the parameters for a restaurant are:

Low level of noise, 2-3 bells OK, 4 bells or bomb not OK

Has to have some vegetarian dishes

Has to have sufficient parking nearby for the invading Fodorite army

Has to have a decent menu with no "break the bank" prices

Can't be Asian or anything that will call up allergies

Preferably opens at 5pm.

And I'll toss in one more: must have gorgeous looking wait staff that will treat us like royalty and hang on to our every word.

Any other requirements?

Ouch, ToedToes, I guess I didn't look at the menu closely... This is really strange, first time I see a menu without a vegetarian dish in it!

OK, let's start it all over

Lucie: sorry for the confusion. It's all Faina's fault. She said something about bus stations.

toedtoes: The way I've seen these GTGs develop, if the wine is good and copious, no one is going to care if you order an entire mousse/moose and had it all to yourself.

I'd tend to suggest an Italian restaurant, then, because there are usually several vegetarian pastas or pizzas available.

Oh, dear! Got to go, so much to do today! Will check back to see what the final decision is!

Hey, Starsville, what train station? Don't you know I work only around BUS stations?

ET, you're picking on the wrong working gal Step away from Bastardo!!

And I've learned something new today: a vegetarian will have a moose for dessert =D>

Seriously... Italian will agree with everybody's taste, so let's look for one.

Easytraveler - I'll happily forego the vegetarian option if you can ensure the gorgeous looking MALE wait staff that will treat us like royalty and hang on to our every word...

Boy my prior post didn't make sense... I meant to say that normally I don't mention my vegetarianism because I don't want my choice to dictate everyone else's decision, but after experiencing worse attitude for eating dessert in front of some folks, I have to mention one or the other or risk injury - usually a fork in my hand from folks trying to steal my dessert...

Even a vegetarian has to make some hard choices... giving up moose for dessert is beyond my willpower.

What about this one:

http://www.osteriasf.com/index.html

It has gnocci and pasta vegetarian.

3277 Sacramento St. (at Presidio), easy street parking (do you believe it?)

Well I guess I should chime in here. I am easy (guess I should work the train stations!) so any kind of food is good for me. Also any location although I appreciate the easy parking part.

Just to throw a wrench in the planning, it would be great if we could find someplace with a semi-private room. Of course having a quiet place helps but once we have a little wine I am not sure how quiet we'll be! I was doing a search on google but have to get my expense report done right now. So I will look later. Otherwise, Faina, Osteria looks good. The Presidio area is so nice.
