ground transportation dwd

Any recommendations regarding ground transportation from airport to swan hotel. is it better to rent a car for 8 days as restaurants within park are so expensive or just use a shuttle service. also, any recommendations for car rental or shuttle services. thank you

Under no circumstances it is going to take 8 days to see the DIsney theme parks and there are lots of other attraction worth seeing. HAving a rental car will give you the mobility neededto enjoy the area.

dwd? What's this? Dorks within Disney? Let's try WDW. dwd sounds like some bizarre Denver airport code....

I agree with x. After a few days WDW you will have seen it all and you will be very, very tired. A car will give you the possibility to escape from the excitement and to do perhaps some shopping (Premium Outlet is not far from your hotel). Kennedy Space Center is also worth a visit.

Well, I disagree with the assertions that you will get bored after 8 days. We have spent more than 8 days on property without leaving the complex, except to buy some groceries. There is quite a lot to take advantage of at Disney, especially if you take it at a slow, leisurely pace. However, we have learned that we really enjoy having our own car so we could just pick up and go. Sometimes, it's just quicker than waiting for the park shuttles, especially if you have children. If you decide not to rent a car, I recommend Tiffany Town Car. We found their prices to be very reasonable and found them to be very comfortable. We liked the fact that we didn't have to make any other stops at other resorts on our way to our hotel (like you do with Transtar and Mears). They will also make a 1/2 hour grocery stop if you wish. The website is www.tiffanytowncar.com.

We used a compnay called Classic Carriage Limos. www.classiccarriagelimos.com

We just got back for our trip in June and I searched out the best price for a family of 4 (using a towncar) and they were it. We paid almost $90 TOTAL (yes, that is the all-inclusive price) and the gal (her name was Robin) gave us a nice tour on the way and when it came time for pickup, they actually came to our room on the grounds and drove us to the office to check out. I arrnged and had everything paid for before leaving home and they were right there waiting. BTW, they were cheaper than Tiffany. I compared them. And, the driver offered to stop for groceries if we wanted but we didn't want to. Hope this helps

Disney's transportation to the parks from the Swan is really great. They have boats to MGM or Epcot (or you could actually walk to those parks) and frequent buses to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. For LOADS of great info on Disney go to www.disboards.com and www.wdwig.com

I think 8 days is ok for Disney especially with kids. That way you can avoid the mad rush of the people who only go for 3 or 4 days. They feel they have to cram it all in one day. We went Easter week 2002 and stayed for 8 days and the longest line we ever waited in was 20 minutes. (Don't forget to use fast pass.) Because we had 8 days we were able to get to the parks early and get out and enjoy the disney hotel pools by 3pm. I know you only asked about transportation but i wanted to let you know that 8 days is not excessive. Speaking of transportation- I would recommend a car-it is more convenient than disney buses. We had a car and on our 2nd trip to MK decided to test the bus system. It took 30 minutes in the morning waiting for the bus and in the afternoon the bus was right there, however we had to stop because a young passenger was throwing up all over and they needed a cleaning crew. Take Disney public transportation at your own risk.
