Grand Teton float trip and other activity recommendations, please!

We're headed to GTNP the end of July/beginning of Aug this year. Looking for recommendations for float trip outfitter for family of 7 ranging in age from 7 to an active 82. Any other suggestions you have for activities/hikes would also be very welcome! It looks like we'll bust the budget and stay at Jackson Lake Lodge, as we don't want to do the drive back and forth to Jackson.

Barker Ewing is a great float trip company. Have used them for decades.

Check out the park newspaper at nps.gov--it will give you hike distances and elevation gain. Great resource

We rented bikes at Dornans in Moose and biked from there to Jenny Lake on the bike path--that was lots of fun and easy.

Go into Jackson--enjoy the town square, see the rodeo.

If you click on my user name you will see my trip report for Jackson and the Tetons

We went with TriangleX; our guide was great and, although it was pretty cold in early June, we really enjoyed the experience. www.trianglex.com

We used Solitude - and saved $10 by booking online. All of the outfitters run the same 10 miles of river for the float trips. All have good safety records.

We really enjoyed Brushbuck's 4 hour wildlife tour. Highly recommend.

If you are there on a Monday, go to the FREE hootenanny at Dornan's. Great music and good food from Dornan's. MUCH better than a chuckwagon show we paid for.

Thank you so much for your replies! There appear to be a number of reputable float trip companies that offer good value for money. The rest of the suggestions are great, too! I will definitely check out the trip reports.

There's a boat ride on Jenny Lake that goes to a waterfalls. The falls can also be reached by a scenic hike.

I think most hikes in the area will be beautiful.

If you haven't been to Yellowstone, you can take a drive into the park from the Jackson Lake Lodge - at least as far as OF.

The Lawrence Rockefeller preserve was very interesting and worth visiting. It's along Moose Wilson Road near Jackson.
